False Prophets
My friends, what does the Bible have to say about false prophets? Let’s look at these verses to see what God has to say:
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:15-16 (KJV).
Here we see first of all that we are to beware. Why? Because they come in the guise of the truth from God, as a brother or sister in Christ…..
They look like they can be trusted, but what you don’t see is that in them they have other motives that will be hurtful to you. How do you know them? Their fruit. You must look at the product. When you slice open their truth, is the center rotten? Does it hold water and agree with other scripture? Investigate, then decide.
“But [in those days] false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will subtly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways, and because of them the way of truth will be maligned. And in their greed they will exploit you with false arguments and twisted doctrine. Their sentence [of condemnation which God has decreed] from a time long ago is not idle [but is still in force], and their destruction and deepening misery is not asleep [but is on its way],” 2 Peter 2:1-3 (AMP).
Just as there were false prophets long ago, there are false prophets today.
Their way is cunning and shrewd, and what they have to say is destructive and harmful. It is full of error and inconsistency, and it is shameful. Many will follow and be led astray because doubt will be cast upon the truth of God. Because of their selfish gain you will be used by what is false. They will have their just reward.
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints,” 1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV).
“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed,” Galatians 1:6-9 (KJV).
We must be well grounded in the truth so that we are not drawn away from the simplicity of the gospel. Stick with the truth. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 shares the gospel:
“Moreover brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
If anyone else preaches any other gospel unto you he is accursed, (Galatians 1:8). Check what they have to say about Jesus Christ
“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, how shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken?
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him,” Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (KJV).
Take heed servants of God, and investigate what you are hearing.
Does it line up with Scripture?
Do you receive agreement with the Holy Spirit?
You will know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Hope this helps…
God bless you Beloved of the Lord… Stand strong in these tumultuous days!
God Bless You, you are in my prayers
