Fall Time
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
Fall Time
Fall time is approaching
Changes are stirring
Cooler breezes prevail
Leaves turn their ways
Perfect sweater weather
Cooler nights bring a shiver
Crisp, full of stars
Oh God is still watching over the land
Watching over all He has created
Do you hear trumpets blowing?
His Feasts are nearing
Oh the Holiest time of the year is almost here
A shift in the earth
Shortening of daylight
The sun races across the sky
As if it has forgotten
How glorious it had been in summer—
Once shining strong
Crowned in boldness
Oh God is still watching over the land
Watching over all He has created
Do you hear trumpets blowing?
His Feasts are nearing
Oh the Holiest time of the year is almost here
Birds sing a different tune
And take flight en masse
The whippoorwill and monarch
Sense the calling of the south
Everything has a time and season
The bear and squirrel prepare
These days will not linger forever
The wheat in the fields
Turns golden for harvest
Heavy heads bowed
The LORD has prospered it
With summer rains
In the valleys many gather
For a bounty overflowing
Oh God is still watching over the land
Watching over all He has created
Do you hear trumpets blowing?
His Feasts are nearing
Oh the Holiest time of the year is almost here
Hazy afternoons
A hint of chimney smoke
Crunch of leaves underfoot
Their earthy scent rises up
Walks around the lake
Water reflections capture
Wind swept clouds above
Let us rejoice!
For this is the day The LORD has made!
Let us rejoice!
Give thanks to our mighty Father!
For it is Fall time….
Soon it will be time
For Fall to give way;
It’s glorious colors,
Once ablaze,
Fade into memory
To rest and sleep
Until next year
Oh God will still be watching over the land
Winter, Spring, and Summer will pass
The trumpets will sound
His Feasts will come again
And the Holiest time of the year will be here
“Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.” Psalm 81:3
“You shall keep the Feast of Harvest, of the firstfruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall keep the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor.” Exodus 23:16
“You shall observe the Feast of Weeks, the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year’s end.” Exodus 34:22
“Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet. He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted!” Psalm 47:1-9
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22
“He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.” Psalm 104:19
“Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.” Acts 14:17
“You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.” Psalm 74:17
