Faith That Never Fails
The word of God is a sure foundation; it cannot be shaken because it is forever settled in heaven. The Psalmist wrote; “Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven” (Psalms 119:89). If God’s word is settled in heaven then it is us the child of God to settle it on earth. You can stake your whole life on it, because in it there are records of God’s faithfulness and supernatural dealings with His children. If much of the amazing supernatural occurrences happened in the Old Testament, how much more are we to expect them now that we are in a better testament? But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Hebrews 8:6 God’s word works, when you work it. This is only possible when you believe it, act on it and live by it. Do not live by your feelings. Do not live by the opinions of the technocrats that are not in line with God’s word! Do not be terrified by the bad news in the media, the good news is in Jesus’ words, ‘These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world’ (John 16:33). Jesus overcame the world and also made you an overcomer the moment you accepted Him as your Lord and Savoir. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith” (John 5:4).
If like many you are still wondering why you are not overcoming, your faith is the problem. I don’t mean that you lack faith since every believer has faith (Romans 12:3), but you have not release or activated it whenever necessary. Since we all have faith and all we need is a mustard seed size so that nothing shall be impossible unto us (Matthew 17:20), the problem is the failure to use our faith effectively. The two major neutralizers of our faith which make it ineffective are doubt and unbelief. Whenever, we second guess, entertain a contrary thought to the word of God, consider the negative feelings and surroundings that are magnifying the challenge, we doubt and at worst disbelieve God’s word and power. The disciples wondered why they couldn’t cast out a devil yet they had done it before, this was Jesus’ answer; “So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you”” (Matthew 17:20).
Seeing the boy convulsing and hearing of the longevity of the problem must have imparted unbelief in them. Was it because they had small faith? No, all they needed was a mustard side size of faith; it was because their faith became weak through unbelief. It became ineffective. Peter walked on water albeit half-way the journey and then he begun to sink in the presence of Jesus, imagine!! ‘But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:30-31. Doubt came because he looked at the boisterous waves. He should have kept his eyes on Jesus – the Word made flesh, and he would have enjoyed a return hitch-free journey on the bubbly waves of the sea. He didn’t! Not because he had no faith, but because he doubted making his faith ineffective or little. In both scenarios even with their faith they failed to do the supernatural because they doubted and disbelieved as a result of considering the circumstances. They magnified the challenge instead of magnifying God and standing on His word.
Friend, today do not look at the storm and the waves of your sea, look unto Jesus. Work on your faith and make it effective. If it means having hours of reading and listening to the word so that your faith is built strong; free from doubts and unbelief, do it. Remember faith comes through the word of God (Romans 10:17). Many go on fasts; they fast food and other pleasures, but I would encourage you to go on a fast, where you will fast anything and everything that brings doubts and unbelief in you as you feast on God’s word voraciously. Read it, mediate on it long enough until you see its fulfillment in your spirit and then speak it boldly for its manifestation. Your life has taken on a new turn and your faith is working. This is your season to flourish.
