Established in His Love
Lately The LORD has been impressing on me His Love.
At times, when He is trying to get me to press in a little deeper, to turn my attention to something and dig into it, He begins to give me songs and other signs over and over and over again, to the point that I weary of it, and it finally occurs to me that He’s actually trying to tell me something more. (Good thing He’s so patient!)
How many times have we heard about God’s Love in Sunday school, in Church; we read the scriptures about His Love, and yet after a while it becomes an academic exercise, where we know with our minds, but our hearts forget, or perhaps never knew what that really means.
We can know something thoroughly with our minds, but until that “knowledge” becomes established in our hearts and souls, it is an academic exercise alone.
The LORD brought me this scripture as soon as I put my pen to paper to write this:
“that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be able to be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19.
There it is, the very thing He’s been impressing upon me again and again and again!
We need to KNOW the Love of Christ which passes knowledge. The word “know” in the text there in the Greek is the word “Ginisko.”
The Strong’s Concordance definition is, in part:
“such ‘knowledge’ is obtained not by mere intellectual activity, but by operation of the Holy Spirit consequent upon acceptance of Christ.” Strong’s G1097 (6c1)
It further defines:
“the verb is also used to convey that thought of connection or union as between man and woman. (Matthew 1:25)” Strong’s G1097 (7)
In other words, intimacy!
It cannot be just a head knowledge, but must come from an intimacy with Christ, through Holy Spirit, in the secret place.
Everything we know spiritually (which always manifests in the natural), must be “rooted and grounded in love,” so that we “may be able to be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Think of it as a plant grown in a pot. If the pot (us) is only half filled with potting soil (His Love), the root system of that plant (our spiritual understanding and abilities) will be very limited in its ability to grow, therefore limiting the growth of the plant and stunting its growth.
If more soil is added to the pot (more Love), then the root system will fill in to the size of the soil in the pot. (The pot would be our paradigm about God, and the limitations our minds put on Him.)
If the plant is then transplanted into the ground where there is no limitation on how much the plant can grow, then the plant is allowed to grow to the fullness that God designed that particular plant to grow.
There are times when we limit the Love of God in ourselves with feelings of unworthiness, shame, or other negative emotions, or believing lies of the enemy about ourselves.
Once we allow Holy Spirit to bring to the surface those things to release to Jesus for redemption, we increase greatly the work His Love can do in us.
And as we let go of some of the religious or self-imposed mindsets we have about God that are not fully supported in scripture, we can be transplanted into the fullness of His Unlimited Love and walk in the fullness of our destiny.
It sounds like it might be complicated, but it’s a work He does; we just need to give Him our full permission and allow Him to do it.
A simple “yes” and our cooperation is all it takes. We may occasionally cry in remembering a hard memory, but He does all the heavy lifting!
Ask The Holy Spirit to remove all obstacles to receiving the fullness of the Love of Christ.
Give Him your full and unconditional permission to do what only He can, then yield yourself to His gentle care.
You will never regret it, and He is so worth it! Then, and only then, can you “know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
I pray over you this day:
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21.
May you be fully convinced of the infinite Love of Christ!
Love,
