Thou Therefore, Endure Hardness as a Good Soldier of Jesus Christ!

The goal is not to stop the persecution, reproaches, the troubles set on the path of your mission — the burden will indeed be lighter if the persecution stops and is tamed, yet the persecution being stopped doesn’t guarantee that the prize is won.

The Apostle Paul recognizing this said;

“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.” 2 Corinthians 12:10.

Recognizing that beyond the circumstance, whatever it may be, pleasurable or not, a race had been set before him, he wrote,

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:1-3.

So in certain times, the response of The LORD may resemble Apostle Paul’s letter to Timothy, where he declared;

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.” 2 Timothy 2:3-5.

In troubles, in thorns, in pleasure, the consistent posture should be… Eyes on the prize!
