Elijah Does First Come and Restore All Things
Elijah Does First Come and Restore All Things
and Yet…..
“He replied, Elijah does come and will get everything restored and ready.” Emphasis mine, Matthew 17:11 AMPC.
Compare with Isaiah 40:1-5.
“Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” Says your God. “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth; the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.””
Are not we all, The Ekklesia of Christ, waiting in the great anticipation for The Second Coming of Christ!?
His Return will be Preceded by the Mmnifestation of The Sons of God, who will come In The Spirit and Power of Elijah — El is YHVH, preparing the way, and Herself, For Christ.
This will be The Time of The Great Harvest, spearheaded by the divine outpouring, the mighty Ghehshem (Hosea 6:3+H1653), the Former and Latter Rains, of YHVH’s Teaching of Knowing Him and His Righteousness (Joel 2:23 + Ezekiel 44:15-31 [“Zadok”, H6659 = “Righteous”]), Healing, Restoration, and the bursting forth of His bright Light, as The Transfiguration, dispelling the darkness covering the Earth.
These times will be the divine culmination and effecting of His great Plan, In and through His Chosen.
Not only will The Bride declare the Power and Glory of El is YHVH, as on Mount Carmel, 1 Kings 18:19-41, the espoused will also reveal, to the World, her Beloved JESUS, YAH OSHEA, YHVH IS SAVIOR, HEALER, RESTORER, DELIVERER, and SAFETY, before being snatched away with Him for eternity, all for The Glory of God!
“My beloved responded and said to me, ‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along. For behold, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone,” Song of Songs 2:10-11 NASB.
“And to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Ephesians 3:9-11 NASB
“That is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among ( GK = G1722 EN) the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,” Colossians 1:26-27 NASB emphasis added.
“And yet….” what of The Son of Man?
Peter, James, and John witnessed The Transfiguration of Jesus, as recorded in Matthew 17, Mark and Luke 9. They also witnessed Moses (The Law) and Elijah (The Prophets) speaking to Christ, The Fulfillment ( John 1:1; Romans 3:21-25; John 19:28 ).
This Event really shook, understandably, the three disciples. Peter, not really knowing what to do or say, wanted to build three tabernacles, one for each of these Servants, as a memorial. Then a Cloud formed and a Voice spoke, to the three disciples, out of The Cloud:
“Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to answer; for they became terrified. Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!” (my note The Fulfillment) Mark 9:5-7 NASB.
“When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone,” Matthew 17:6-8.
But, no sooner had the three disciples heard The Voice, and Jesus’ Command, they became confused and befuddled again, almost like one drinking too much caffeine. I think the three may have been in some form of a state of shock.
“As they were coming down from the mountain, He gave them orders not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man rose from the dead. They seized upon that statement, discussing with one another what rising from the dead meant,” Mark 9:9-10 NASB.
“Rising from the dead…” did not seem to ring any of their bells.
“And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again,” Mark 8:31 NASB.
The disciples went on to say in Mark 9:11 NASB,
“They asked Him, saying, “Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
The focus of the disciples was still on Elijah, scribes, MAN!
Jesus Responds:
“And He said to them, “Elijah does first come and restore all things. And yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He will suffer many things and be treated with contempt? But I say to you that Elijah has indeed come,” and they did to him whatever they wished, just as it is written of him.” Mark 9:12 NASB, *Emphasis mine.
Matthew 17:11-13 adds more to this narrative:
“And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things; but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist,” Matthew 17:11-13 NASB.
It appears the disciples are starting to understand what Jesus is telling them, at least about Elijah and John The Baptist, who was also beheaded for Christ.
The historic Old Testament Elijah, likewise, suffered rejection and persecution. I think the disciples were, at this time, still missing His Point, even being IN DENIAL, regarding the Greater Truth, i.e. Christ’s Sufferings, Crucifixion, and Resurrection.
This was also displayed by their actions when they deserted Christ in The Garden. Jesus had made all this very clear to them in the earlier passages of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
However, they were still caught up with ruling and reigning with Christ, the experience of preaching and healing ministries, as well as the miraculous feeding of the thousands. In addition came Peter’s Receiving Divine Revelation as to WHO JESUS IS. (Luke 9:6;12-20).
Again, Jesus tempered all the manifestations, signs and wonders, with His Teaching:
“And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And He was stating the matter plainly. “ Emphasis mine, Mark 8:31-32 NASB.
Peter incorrectly reacts to this “clear teaching of Christ”, being heady from the praises of Jesus about what he had received from The Father and Christ’s Declaration of the Establishment of His Kingdom and bestowal of the Keys and Divine Authority.
“Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You….” Matthew 16:22 NASB.
Jesus’ Response was one of the strongest rebukes in The Bible. He did this, not only for Peter’s sake, but also for the rest of the disciples, since they had probably heard Peter rebuking Christ.
“But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s,” ” Mark 8:33 NASB
Jesus continues His Teaching in Luke 9.
“And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. But I say to you truthfully, there are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”” Luke 9:23-27 NASB
Here is The Key Point to all this…
There is no Life without Death, and no Glory without Suffering…..
Both are Necessary! I speak of Spiritual Things.
“Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast; these then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and began to ask him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip came and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip came and told Jesus. And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. “Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”” John 12:20-28 NASB.
“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him,” Romans 8:14-17 NASB.
I pray that none of The Ekklesia, me included, fear and shy away from His Cross, His Pattern (**Isaiah 53; [Hebrews 11]), whatever that was Predestined (Romans 8:29-30) and is Entailed for each of our lives.
Through our continual death-to-self we will find His Grace, Life and Power to Accomplish All He has Called Us To Do.
“And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain — for He says, “AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU, AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU.”
Behold, now is “THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,” behold, now is “THE DAY OF SALVATION” — giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited, but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses, in beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger, in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true; as unknown yet well-known, as dying yet behold, we live; as punished yet not put to death, as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing yet possessing all things,” 2 Corinthians 6:1-10 NASB.
“Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me — to keep me from exalting myself! Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong,” 2 Corinthians 7-10 NASB.
**Reread the passages in Genesis 1:26-26; 1 Corinthians 2:6; 1 Corinthians 2:7; Colossians 1:26-27.
Looking at the scripture references, In the Hebrew “Aleph-Bet” (alphabet), #1 is the value for the first letter ALEPH, representing ABBA/ FATHER.
Now, adding the numbers 26 + 27 we get 53. Now look at ***Isaiah 53:1, (see below), and the rest of the chapter. {+Isaiah 52:13-15 = 80 the value for the Hebrew letter PEY = Mouth, Word}.
Now, compare these Scriptures together. Aleph-Bet references taken from © Hebrew For Christians.
By The Way, 26 is the Value of the Total of The Four Hebrew Letters YHVH, His Covenant Name. Y=Yod =10 + H=Hey=5 + V=Vav=6 + H=Hey=5 Sum Total = 26 Exodus 3:13-15.
***Isaiah 53:1
“Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?” (NASB).
53 is also represented IN the Hebrew letters NUN = 50, and GIMMEL = #3. Nun, meaning “fish” represents LIFE and GIMMEL is pictured as either a camel or man walking. #3 results from adding #1/ Aleph/ Father/ ABBA and #2/ BET/ House/ Dwelling/ BEN/ SON.
Yeh-hoshua, Joshua, Jesus, was The Son of NUN (Joshua 1:1).
The Manchild Company, The Way Makers, The Bearers and Declarers Of The Good News That “YHVH Is Oshea”, In The Power and Spirit Of “El is YHVH”.
It Will Be the Sum Total of and In The Name of The Father, and The Son, (John 17:6,11,12,26), in Oneness of Heart and In The Spirit of Christ, The Anointed One Of YHVH.
The Letters “Aleph-Bet” are also the abbreviation for all the Hebrew letters, just as we use “alphabet” for ours. The last letter in the Aleph-Bet is TAV and its pict is the symbol of a Cross.
The abbreviation “Aleph-Tav” carry’s the same meaning as the Greek letters, Alpha and Omega”, The Beginning And The End!
The Messengers/ Gimmels, Coming out of The Wilderness, will Bear and Carry, as Camels in The Desert.
(Not much to look at — BUT empowered to sustain long, dry, Journeys in and through the wilderness, prepared beforehand, through deep drinking ofTthe Living Waters of His Spirit and Word), and Proclaim as The Sons of ABBA, FATHER, The Whole Council/ LOGOS of God, The Way, The Truth, And The Life, Through The Cross, In This Last Hour.
“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb (Compare with Revelation 12:1-5). And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God. It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, TO TURN THE HEARTS OF THE FATHERS BACK TO THE CHILDREN, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:15-17 NASB.
“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God,” 1 Corinthians 1:18.
