Many today are MAKING DECISIONS. At first notice this sounds good that many are now Christians. After all we all realize that many today are totally turned off seemingly to Jesus Christ. We want to believe this news…. BUT. ARE THEY FOR REAL ?

I heard an evangelist speaking about THOUSANDS BEING SAVED…. BUT but we had only 350 baptized. I was just wondering about that when it crossed my mind that Jesus said that we were to go and preach, than Baptize the believers. Than after all that Teach them all things. Well even on the Day of Pentecost, the scriptures teach that 3000 men were saved. Later it says that THE SAME DAY THEY WERE ALL BAPTIZED. It does not say only 1/3 were baptized, but it says they were all baptized.

“Then they that gladly received his word WERE BAPTIZED and the SAME DAY there were added unto them about three thousand souls” Acts 2:41.

Nowadays it is quite well known that many are adding many who just indicated by HANDS LIFTED UP. Matter of fact, many today are not even worrying about getting anyone in the water. Well this could be a sign for sure that SOMETHING IS AMISS. I do not believe that a person is FULLY SAVED…. JUST BECAUSE HE IS BAPTIZED, but certainly it is taught in the Scriptures that Baptism is commanded. Even Jesus who really did not need to repent or even be “Saved”, seeing He was no sinner…. DID GET BAPTIZED BEFORE HE BEGIN HIS EARTHLY MINISTRY. He said it was to fulfill all righteousness. On the night that the Philippian Jailer was saved and those in his house hold, they were all baptized by Paul THAT VERY NIGHT….. (before the coming of the next day). Well in reading the scripture about this event, AFTER HE WAS SAVED… he took Paul and Silas to his house (in the night) and all those who believed in his house and were saved WERE BAPTIZED.

Do you get the idea from these teachings that it was not AN EASY MATTER BUT ONE OF GREAT DECISION?

But even greater reason to look closer at the many making DECISIONS is the following verses:

“⁴² And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
⁴³ And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
⁴⁴ And all that believed were together, and had all things common; ⁴⁵ And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from ho use to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, ⁴⁷ Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 2:42-47 (KJV).

I want you to NOTICE THE ABOVE:

• They CONTINUED

• They continued STEADFAST

• They held to DOCTRINE OF THE APOSTLES

• They moved in Fear (Reverence for God) because of the many signs and wonders done by the Apostles.

• They CONTINUED IN…. FELLOWSHIP (this means that they did meet with believers in a assembly… after the day of salvation.

• They did observe the Lord’s supper and to eat the bread and drink the cup of the Lord)

• They who did believe WERE TOGETHER and had ALL THINGS COMMON.

• They were willing to sell their possessions and goods and give to ALL MEN, as every man had need.

• They did eat their meat with GLADNESS and SINGLENESS OF HEART… in other words they walked in holiness.

Now I need not LABOR THIS POINT. There seems to be a MUCH GREATER DEVOTION TO THE NEW BELIEVERS IN THE EARLY CHURCH SETTING. Do you get the opinion that CHURCH WAS DIFFERENT IN THOSE DAYS AND THAT THEY ACTUALLY DID MEAN WHAT THEY SAID… THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS THE LORD OF THEIR LIVES?

Well, as for me, I REFUSE TO COUNT ANYONE WHO DOES NOT FOLLOW THE LORD AFTER MAKING A DECISION BY BEING BAPTIZED IN WATER. I do not even want to count them until they FOLLOW WITH OBEDIENCE and CONTINUE.

Many MODERN DAY EVANGELIST are going about COUNTING ANYTHING THAT WIGGLES SO MUCH AS A LITTLE FINGER. If a person moves his or her eyes just right…. they count them. They ONLY WANT TO REPORT A LARGE NUMBER. Well who wouldn’t want to be able to say THOUSANDS WERE SAVED? But, NOT FOR THE SAKE OF COUNTING. I would rather COUNT THOSE WHO MEAN BUSINESS and really do get BORN AGAIN. I would hate to have to stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ and hear the Lord ask the Question, WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE YOU….. SIGNED UP?
