Dying Daily
Pardon me LORD — I thought I was giving up too much of myself by dying daily.
If I keep up this process what form of life shall I have left?
Will my head sink inside itself?
Will I lose parts of my hands and feet?
What parts of my body disappears when I die daily?
What have I to fear?
Dying daily has to do with recognizing sin in our lives while and when it happens — accepting the responsibility and taking necessary actions.
Sin in not something we ignore or denounce its’ presence. It is ugly and stinky like an oozing sore.
Many Christians believe they should not suffer when they are students of God’s word and following after Christ.
A follower of Christ should not see suffering as a weakness or punishment but rather – as a commodity.
Suffering has a benefit it allows us to shed sin and uncover hidden truths.
Suffering shows us that we should not always try to make bad things into something good.
“Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.” Matthew 18:7-9.
I was at a local hospital emergency room yesterday. The room filled to overflow.
The sound of the double doors opening became a screeching sound. It seemed as though metal rubbed against metal because the rubber lining wore thin.
Pain and sickness is not at the forefront of my mind every day. Seeing people in crisis made me realize the complexity and components of suffering.
The room began to fill hour by hour. Soon the emergency room backed up with sick people.
Ambulance patients were entering from the back of the hospital. This slowed down the intake of patients waiting in front of the hospital.
I do not know how many people were praying over their conditions or if they prayed at all. At this moment, my eyes opened to suffering and I began to pray.
When it comes to suffering, most Christians take the attitude of – Lord do I have too.
Rejecting God’s perfect will for our lives prolongs the work of the Holy Spirit.
Suffering helps, to put our lives in proper perspectives.
Too often Christians put on “The Whole Armor of God” after the battle.
Then the armor irritates unhealed wounds causing greater pain. Suffering reminds us to put on the Whole Armor of God before wrestling with the devil.
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6:11-18.
Our soul has a lining that wears thin when we are not consistent in our Faith Walk.
Dying daily may cause physical attacks on the body. Suffering reminds us that our soul’s lining need reinforcement.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12.
The world says, “Avoid suffering at all cost”, take a pill or use this remedy and recipe. No pill exists that completely alleviates suffering.
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:12-13.
No pill or injection exists for Faith.
“So then Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17.
Suffering is part of this current life. The cure for sin is Salvation.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17.
I concluded that Christians die daily from sin not from life.
Not much happens to our outward appearance when we die to carnal living and thinking. However, the inward man renews day by day.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-17.
Prayer
LORD, thank You that sickness does not mean You are punishing me.
Forgive me for being disappointed when suffering come instead of enjoying a greater intimacy with You LORD.
Thank You for growing my character and making me spiritually mature.
Thank You LORD for delivering me from my own understanding in this trial.
Thank You for introducing injections of faith by hearing Your Word.
Thank You LORD that joy comes in the morning and this too shall pass.
Amen!
Peace Out,
The Blessing of The LORD Be upon You,
Blessings,
