Dressed In His Faith
Are you always dressed for the occasion?
You may have been invited to dinner by a friend.
Or, you may have been invited to a movie, or a stage play.
Or perhaps a friend wants to visit you over a cup of coffee. Maybe a family wants to have time with you and your family, and your not really ready for company.
Or, are you one of those people always ready at the drop of a hat when someone says: “Let’s go somewhere!”?
Or, are you one who has to plan every detail before you even attempt to take a step?
How did The LORD plan His coming?
Did He wait till your wardrobe was more suitable for His arrival?
Does a baby on the way have to announce what he or she is looking for in the parents?
Parents that are expecting the baby’s arrival do not come equipped with a hot line from the womb, but rather an umbilical chord drawing from Mom without even asking her; or even telling her, for that matter.
Jesus was walking down a road one day and a huge crowd was following Him. A blind man was sitting on the side of the road when Jesus was passing by.
When he came to the realization that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by, he started to call out, “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!”
Those in the crowd that were near him started telling him to quiet down. But the Blind man, whose name was Bartimaeus, cried out all the louder saying “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!”
Jesus stopped; and commanded him to be called, and they called the blind man; “Be of good cheer, He is calling you!”
Throwing his cloak aside, he rose to his feet and came to Jesus.
“What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
He answered; “Rabbi, I want to see!”
“Go,” Jesus said. “Your faith has healed you.”
Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road…. (Mark 10:46-52).
Can you picture Bartimaeus?
He sat on the side of a hot, dusty road near Jericho, possibly begging for alms. (I’ve been to Jericho. it’s just over the Jordan River as you enter Israel from Jordan).
His cloak is all we really know about concerning what he had for possessions. Not only did his blindness hinder his life, but he cast his cloak aside, I believe, so that he wouldn’t trip over his one and only opportunity to be healed.
He was dressed in his Faith, and Barimaeus received what The LORD had for him.
“For without faith it is impossible to please God. For he who comes to God must believe that He is God, and that He is the rewarder unto those who diligently seek Him,” Hebrews 11:6.
