Dreams and Visions
I will share a little about dreams and visions. I am sharing on dreams now, later on I will give you something on Visions, the two are quite different.
Dreams in biblical times in the pre-Christ setting were avenues that God used to communicate His messages to the prophets or seers. They would in turn communicate them to God’s people as instructions or warnings.
Importantly, we see this spiritual gifting back then as an official function in the courts, in king’s palaces, in temples and in family setups. In Jacob’s house was a son who known to be “the dreamer” is suggestive of how often he experienced dreams. On the other hand, kings employed seers and interacted more often with prophets. Prophet Nathan and Abiathar the priests, for example, were within David’s leadership structure.
Prophets received divine directions for God’s people. This way it is was very important to have a dreamer of dreams in kings inner counsels, men of wisdom who could tap into supernatural insights through dreams.
Joseph did just that. He prophetically foresaw famine coming to the Land of Egypt. He saw this through interpreting Pharaoh’s dream. And so he played a role of prophetic watchman. That is why Joseph had to be placed in a major position on national affairs, planning and control.
We need politically leaders who surround themselves with men of wisdom, who can supernaturally see and warn beforehand, on impending crisis.
Nations could therefore be preserved from financial damages and economic blunders when prophetic voices get to the platforms where what they say is heeded, as God speaks through them.
Corrupt systems could be corrected. Terror attacks could be foiled at plotting stages. Essentially, we can do risk-based assessment and manage national uncertainties better before they strike by yielding to prophetic voices.
There are hundreds of warnings in your personal life that perhaps you have not taken seriously. God speaks to you through dreams, you have to learn this new language of dreams.
But just like any language is learned, initially in any learning there are baby steps, that’s right. And probably after learning not all of us will become great communicators. It is the same with dream.
There is another thing also, as I have said learning, that is to acquire skill. There are technicalities to that. Both Joseph and Daniel acquired some skills that helped them to decode mysteries, there was revelation part of it I mean revelation from the Holy Spirit but also there was what they already knew through learning.
“As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams,” Daniel 1:17.
But how does this happen? In Genesis 37, Joseph had a dream, the sun, the moon and the eleven stars were bowing before him.
“So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” Genesis 37:10.
It was easy to know that Jacob stands for the Sun and his wife allegorized the moon. Traditionally it could have been learned, howbeit, to know that the young Joseph was going to reign in Egypt, that would take the revelation from the Holy Spirit.
Dreams are natural complements to the prophetic mantle. Daniel mystically unraveled situations. He probably is one of the few prophets who vividly saw the days we are living today. He was able to accurately decode the exact date that Jesus would walk into Jerusalem to be killed as the lamb of God.
No doubt dreams today have great role in the end-time church. No wonder it became one of the benefits that the Upper Room out-pouring unfolded, when the Holy Spirit out-poured (Acts 2:17).
Prophet Joel saw exactly what I am talking about, about a major visitation that would include the bride of Christ into this phenomenon.
Jesus reserved this gift to His bride to unveil it at the time of dire need. The time of tremendous darkness cover, a time of deep sleep. A time we know bespeaking of apostasy.
Never before has God poured this gift this manner, it is in all fresh.
Definitely there has to be connection between the hour this gift is widely poured, and with the gift itself. He did say in Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”
Previously God has been talking about sanctification in Joel. He has also spoken about repentance, as you see the priests weeping between the porch and the Altar. It is all there, but that is for another day.
Precisely, Joel 2:16 “Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her dressing room.” It is therefore worth noting that the LORD put in mind the sanctification of the saints as He gave the wisdom of dreams. You can see that involves the Bride readying to meet the Bridegroom.
Dreams comes to the Church at the hour of the bridegroom soon return. Is that awesome?
Again you remember very well the story of ten virgins in Matthew 25:2-13, the brides who were to go out and meet the groom. Five of them were wise, they were prepared and had oil reserves.
Did you see that………? Did you see that at the hour of pitch darkness, they were able to see, because their lamps were burning?
They had the anointing (oil) this is the Church of Acts 2:18, the church that has the Holy Spirit. And if she has the Holy Spirit, that would mean that she is able to dream and see visions. She is able to benefit from what Joel saw, the Holy Spirit bringing to the church. And dreams does expose hidden works of darkness.
In the dark dispensation, she receives the warnings to steer clear of deceptions, she does not sleep she dreams and communes with God for direction. That is the role of dreams to direct you as God speaks to the Church to clean up this Church. He compounds it with His Word.
You can see clearly through the dark world.
