Dream Stealers and our God
Dream Stealers and
God, Our Ultimate Dreamer
A dream stealer is someone who distracts you from reaching your potential and snuffs out any FIRE or ambition or dream in you.
We must be diligent to “guard our tongue”. By THINKING before we speak, we can save each other from unnecessary hurt and unrealized dreams.
“Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become, in the hands of one who knows how to combine them!” –Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Satan comes to STEAL, kill and destroy. He often uses people to steal dreams and hinder the blessings of God. He wants to PREVENT us from reaching our true potential.
Job had many dream stealers in his life. His friends were a negative influence and even his wife who told Job to “curse God and die.” Job’s faith in God and in his identity as a child of God, was enough to get him through.
Elijah was a man of great faith. He had confidence when he confronted Ahab, Obadiah and the false prophets of Baal. Because he knew his identity and authority in God, the false prophets were all killed. Elijah’s name inspired faith – it means “God is great”.
Yet even with all the confidence of Elijah, when Jezebel threatened to kill him, he was suddenly so overcome with fear that he ran for his life, and hid under a broom tree in the desert.
God Our Ultimate Dreamer
God is our greatest cheerleader.
He believes in us. He made us, so He knows our limitations and our STRENGTHS. He knows what we are capable of when we SURRENDER our dreams to him and trust him to see them through.
In Joshua 1:6-9 God encourages us three times to be strong and courageous and that if we obey His law we will be successful and blessed.
However! Humility Comes Before Honor!
Have you noticed as sure as ‘pride comes before a fall’ – humility comes before honor?
Before your next promotion, you can be sure an opportunity to show humility will come!
We all know God resists the proud but he draws close to the humble in heart. Yet, many of us miss the mark because we seek to be great. When we are simply asked to humble ourselves then God can and will handle the GREAT part.
The Word of God says to humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, (1 Peter 5:6).
This means we don’t have to pray, “LORD make me humble” anymore. It’s our responsibility to humble ourselves! BOOM!
I am not saying God doesn’t participate in making us humble. You might remember when Moses explained the wilderness experience to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 8:2-18 paraphrased., “…remember the Lord your God led you all these years in the wilderness to humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not…”
Any mature Christian will tell you, after Father God gets through disciplining and training us – pride is gone.
Humility comes before honor, Pride comes before the fall.
Do not ask the LORD to guide your footsteps, if you are not willing to move your feet.
It is a great thing to do a little thing well. What we know is very little, but what we are ignorant of is immense.
