Fasting is a knock-out blow to the enemy!

I am not only talking about the devil, but the enemy of our ‘flesh’. It does not want to die.

Here is a song first about prayer and believing.

Now continuing on today I wish to talk on fasting.

Some of us as Christians are stronger than others in this area of fasting.

Don’t beat yourselves up, first of all !!

We all just need to get serious with The LORD about fasting.

Jesus talked about ‘when‘ we fast, not ‘if.’

Pray to The LORD what type of fast to go on and for how long?

There are so many different types of fasting The LORD could lead us on.

Never bind anyone with doing a religious fast to be seen of men!

I have saw this in a few churches before. It about made me sick.

Some people will dare brag of how spiritual they are and even how long they have been fasting.

Pretty sure they lost their reward!

Mostly here I’m going to just let the scriptures talk for themselves.

I’m on this journey with you all for sure.

Sometimes mine may not be a ‘fast of food’ for very long. Years back it seemed a lot easier.

Use wisdom, pray and fast as The LORD leads you.

God sees our hearts!

Fast all that HE shows us, whether food or other things we can give up.

#1  Why to fast and the results of a true fast?

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh. Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of The LORD shall be thy reward. Then shalt thou call, and The LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: And The LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” Isaiah 58: 6-11

#2  How to fast and how not to fast?

“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:16-18

Closing now with some scriptures about prayer as promised.

“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13

“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; saying, “There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: and there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And The LORD said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”” Luke 18:1-8.
