Do Not Worry About Tomorrow
A Psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
Do Not Worry About Tomorrow
Darling, why are you in a hurry?
Busy with the fleeting things of this world?
Aren’t you weary?
Aren’t you thirsty?
Come sit at My Feet
I can give you rest and drink
So do not worry about tomorrow
For I know what you need even before you do
Darling, come closer
Closer than ever before
Come to know Me and My Ways
Come to know My Heart
For I am a loving Father who loves you
And I care more for you than the sparrows
So do not worry about tomorrow
For I know what you need even before you do
Darling, I am gentle and My Word is true
I will clothe you like the flowers in the field
Under My Care they labor not nor spin
Not even Solomon in all his splendor
Was dressed as they are
Can worry add a single hour to your life?
So do not worry about tomorrow
For I know what you need even before you do
Oh do not worry about tomorrow
Oh do not worry about tomorrow
For tomorrow is not guaranteed oh no
Oh darling, do not worry about tomorrow
Be not like Martha
Distracted by this world
Her sister Mary sat at My Feet
And listened to Me
Few things are needed don’t you see
So do not worry about tomorrow
For I know what you need even before you do
Darling, come sit at My Feet
And you will truly see
The only thing that is really needed —
Leave your worry behind
And let Me be the only thing you need.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:25-34
“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”” Luke 10:38-42
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:13-17
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Proverbs 27:1
“Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
