Do Not Cast Pearls Before Swine!
“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more,” Matthew 2:18.
Bethlehem is on the road to Rachel’s grave in Ramah. Rachel, if you remember, was the favorite wife of Jacob.
She died right after giving birth to Benjamin. Imagine her grief as she realized she would not be around to raise her sons.
Imagine the pain of her delivery as with her last gasp she gave birth and then died.
Jeremiah has Rachel’s pain and sorrow in mind as he looks at the misery of the Exile.
Ramah is where the captives, the survivors, from Judah and Jerusalem were taken on the way to Babylon.
Like Rachel, their lives were filled with sorrow and death. Their families were dead. Their city was in ruins. Their country was captive. All seems to be lost and destroyed.
You can only imagine that these held captives were tired, blood-stained, beaten, and depleted. Physically, spiritually, emotionally, and even mentally they were exhausted.
Jeremiah looks at all of this and thinks of Israel’s mother sobbing at the tragedy of her children. Jeremiah realizes that they, like Rachel, had nothing more to give.
But, as I have began to meditate and to prostrate myself before the LORD, I have had such a burden for the family structure in general on today!
The LORD begin to speak to me from the Book of Nehemiah how that the fathers’ sepulchres, (the memorial of them) lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire.
My heart weeps and mourns for the things that our forefathers have left as a memorial to the next generation who have allowed what they worked hard for to go to waste and to ruin all because they {do not value} what is important to the next generation and the generation after that!
But, Nehemiah refused to allow the enemy to come in to rob, steal and to destroy his father’s memorial; unlike many of us who do not value family!
“Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid, and said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?” Nehemiah 2:2-3 KJV.
The LORD is speaking today and He is saying that if we do not have compassion, and love for our fellowman and all that we hold dear, we shall not only lose what the fathers left us, but the enemy will come in and he will defeat us from within and without! In our nation, in our home, government and our churches!
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, {except he will first} bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house, (Mark 3:25-27).
Come on Somebody! We are living in perilous times were because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold, (Matthew 24:12 KJV).
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of {all men} for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved, (Mark 13:12-13 KJV).
According to the report Nehemiah received, the remnant in Jerusalem was shamed. A city with broken walls (where the enemy could come in to plunder and defeat it all because the walls of love, compassion, and mercy had been torn down) revealed a defeated people.
You see, the Jews who had returned to their homeland were both in unsafe conditions and humiliated at living in a destroyed city.
However, it is not the will of God that any man should perish but that we should all live a life of an abundance!
For, I hear the LORD saying, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 1:2).
In Nehemiah 2:17, Nehemiah told the Jewish leaders, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates (a place of entry) have been burned with fire.
Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.”
Help us Holy Ghost! God is calling for his people to stand tall, strong, bold and courageous in this hour and to not compromise the walls, gates and the things that our forefathers have built by allowing the enemy to destroy the inheritance of the children in this season!
The gates of ancient cities were important as a means of providing access to the city while maintaining security.
Come on Somebody! So many of us want to be like the world but if you become a friend of the world you will become an enemy to God! Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God, (James 4:4)
When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it , it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be {no more} a reproach.
But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it , they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem,” (Nehemiah 2:10,17,19-20 KJV)
People it is time to make up in your minds whom you will serve in this season whether it be Baal or God?
So many of us have lost the desire to build the walls, and the gates all because of the Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite who are laughing at our reproach and shame that we have chosen to be different but I would far rather to become a friend of God than an enemy of God!
I don’t know about you but I choose to keep chipping away and building the walls (gates) of the forefathers than to continue to walk in shame and the ruin of the family structure that Satan has torn down!
