Dissension and Disputation
“And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question,” Acts 15:1-2 (KJV).
This situation was common in that day. A religious controversy would arise on the street, and this would give many the opportunity to discuss and reason together on spiritual things. Many similar situations are discussed in the book of Acts, and these were perfect opportunities for people like Paul and Peter to engage the people in the sharing of the gospel. What an act of faith.
Could it be that soon we will enter into another ‘Acts’ time?
It is the Holy Spirit who makes opportunities for the gospel to be shared, individually and publicly. If you saw and heard something like that take place, would you take the opportunity the Holy Spirit presented, and share your faith, it could happen you know, for a new day is dawning!
