Dismantling The Power Of The Spirit Of Envy
Jealousy is not interchangeable with envy.
Jealousy is an emotion directly related to YOUR things while envy is a negative emotion (or entity) that covets something that is NOT yours.
Envy revolves around a discontented longing for someone else’s advantages, favor, gifts, etc.
If pride is coupled with envy in the heart, it will cause an inflated sense of self. Once these spirits/ mindsets have gained entry into your heart:
- ➡️ You become the most important thing in your life, then no one else can be better than you.
- ➡️ When you don’t have it all or when you aren’t completely filled, then no one else should be either.
- ➡️ When you lack, you tend to see others in a competitive way. That competition shatters friendships and relationships.
- ➡️ When they get or have what you want but you don’t have, you don’t want them to have it either.
The spirit of envy is often overlooked as a lesser spirit, but do not be deceived. Envy is at the root of assassination attempts, divorces (and marriages), failed friendships, conflict within associations, declines in organizational growth, moral failures, sabotage, gaslighting, family drama, ordinations, and delay.
Individuals who are led by the spirit of envy are constantly tormented, because they are never satisfied or fulfilled.
In other words, when a person with envy doesn’t feel successful, they view others who are confident or successful as undeserving of those attributes.
The spirit of envy speaks these thoughts of this nature concerning others:
“They are trash, they shouldn’t even be alive.”
“They suck.”
“Their family isn’t all that.”
“I can do that better.”
And these aren’t just thoughts, these are word curses that a desire to manifest. Did you understand how envy works?
When a person is jealous, it indicates that they will do anything to keep it. Envy is when you don’t want others to have what you don’t have.
The spirit of envy partners with torment, depression, monitoring spirits, witchcraft, sabotage, slander in an attempt to make you agree with the lie of the enemy.
What is the lie? That you shouldn’t possess what God has given you.
Here are a few examples of what can trigger envy in the heart of a person:
- Watching someone else receive favoritism from someone you’ve known longer.
- Someone else’s kid scores a goal, when they could have passed it to your kid.
- In a business meeting, someone shares a good idea that you had but didn’t share.
- Observing the attention someone else receives for launching a new product.
Even the Apostle Paul said that there of those that will preach Christ because of envy.
“Some indeed preach Christ of (because of) envy and strife and some also of good will. The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds.” Philippians 1:15-16.
Be reminded that Jesus was put to death because of a spirit of envy.
“For he (Pilate) knew that the chief priests had delivered him (Jesus) for (because of) envy.” Mark 15:10.
The spirit of envy lurks around unchecked, because its tracks are covered with the blood of the innocent.
Envy sets up traps for other people to fail for fun. Envy plants seeds of discord to change the hearts of individuals towards a person.
Contrary to popular belief, the careers and forward projection of many entrepreneurs, artists, doctors, ministry leaders (five-fold specifically) have been halted because of the spirit of envy.
But The LORD is raising up leaders in the seven mountains of influence that will not be detoured by the murmurings or actions of the spirit of envy.
The advancement of The Kingdom of God will prevail through the ones that God has anointed. Doors of opportunity will not need to be affirmed by any pseudo-authority, The LORD’s affirmation triumph over the chatter.
It doesn’t matter who doesn’t think you deserve to be where you are or who you are –– the agenda of the Lord will prevail.
“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal Glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10.

Beautiful words, Dee. A reminder for us all. Thank you.
Hi Dee, thank you so much for your post.
Envy, competition, jealousy, comparison…I believe these are the biggest battles I’ve ever faced. You see, I believed that just the way I was created wasn’t enough, that somehow I was inferior. This came from a very wounded little girl within me, abused by very wounded people around me. So I trashed the mirror, I trashed the makeup, I trashed the “false image” I’d created and strived to be. As a result I’ve been the target of a spirit of hatred, judgement, and cruelty in this world beyond what I’d ever could have imagined even existed. The biggest “god” in the world today, I believe, is the “Look at me” god!! It’s crippling the Father’s children and preventing His sons and daughters from looking at Him. We’re so scared we’ll be judged or persecuted or rejected, by a perverse antichrist infected and extremely infested society.
But if we can see that this time on earth is but a tiny drop in the Eternal Ocean of the Father’s Love, we will be more inspired to throw the filth in the garbage and turn to the power of the only One who can wash us clean. And then we can truly and sincerely walk in the reflection of our true identity found only in the Image of our Maker…
God bless you beautiful lady :)
