Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
“Desperate times breed desperate measures…”
William Shakespeare
It should be quite obvious that we now have been living in desperate times.
For with the continual spread of this virus that has infiltrated many of our lives, brought about economic catastrophes, and caused chaos throughout the world, we are indeed now living in that time period that one could call desperation.
And yes, many still doubt the validity of the seriousness of what has been happening. Instead, some coin all of this as a government conspiracy and a hoax that has been orchestrated to help bring about our demise.
I am not of that camp, and yet I certainly am not naïve to how things can and will play out in the coming months and years.
For when I have seen family members afflicted as well as some friends, I soon have discounted the underground culture’s dissertations.
And yet we find the term “perilous” mentioned in the New Testament writings at least once. Here we see the details of how perilous is identified in human behavior and interactions:
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was,” 2 Timothy 3:1-9.
Certainly these types of behaviors would lead one to believe that they are living in desperate or perilous times.
And yet, these characteristics have been seen in humanity throughout the ages, but truly, these things are being intensified as we inch forward more and more into the very last of days.
Along with this epidemic and how it has struck with so much force, other side effects have also been made manifest among us. When money is tight and tempers rise, our worst primal instincts can come to the surface.
These things can play havoc on marriages, friends, and families alike. And it’s a very shallow catch-phrase to say, “I will pray for you,” or I’m sure that somehow God will see you through this time.
These types of things call for a great endurance and a strengthening of one’s faith beyond the ordinary.
These types of things call for supreme wisdom and good sense when people around you are losing their jobs, and wondering where their next meal will be coming from.
These types of things call for a clear visage into the mirror of truth rather than swallowing every conspiracy story that floats around on the internet.
Indeed desperate times do call for desperate measures, and yet one must not be rash in their search for desperate measures. Those measures need to be thought out clearly with infinite care and wisdom.
The measures that were used just a year ago or more, are no longer useful now, for the times, they have changed.
It becomes not only a time of reflection but also a time of action, but whatever action is taken must be in consideration of how it will affect the welfare of one’s family and livelihood. Sometimes the pen is mightier than the sword.
I do believe that much of the unrest and uncertainty that we have now been experiencing, will probably intensify in the coming months and years.
Normal is not something that we may be able to return to, because somehow the world around us has been changed forever.
Gone are the days of Ozzie and Harriet.
The clocks have sped-up, and somehow our track on the prophetic time frame has been quickened.
We’re entering into a new chapter and those pages will soon unfold one at a time, propelling us into those things written down into a biblical revelatory reality.
Selah,
