Coming Into Alignment
The LORD is always speaking to His People, but some people don’t recognize His Voice.
In order to hear His Voice, we must learn how to become sensitive to The Holy Spirit.
We can’t live like mere men and expect supernatural intervention! We can’t expect to hear His Voice if we are listening to the wrong voices.
There are so many voices in the world that vie for our attention throughout the day.
I remember a cartoon of a man who had a little angel sitting on his right shoulder trying to convince him to do the right thing, and a little devil sitting on his left shoulder persuading him to do evil things.
That’s an excellent metaphor of what is actually taking place in the spirit realm.
We need spiritual discernment for the times that we are living. We could train ourselves to learn how to discern good and evil and recognize what The LORD is showing us.
As Holy Spirit filled believers, we should be able to walk into a room and discern the spiritual atmosphere.
We could also discern what people are carrying in their hearts — whether it be joy, love, anger, fear, depression or anxiety.
Every one of us carry a presence and this is what others could sense when they are around us.
A couple of days ago I took car service to a doctor’s office in New York City. The driver was a very kind, peaceful and gentle man. We had a pleasant conversation and I was able to communicate well with him.
On the return trip coming home, I had a driver who was volatile and it was obvious that he had an anger problem. He was using profanity and cutting off the other cars.
I asked him what was wrong. He said, I drive all day and I can’t deal with this traffic and these people any more.
We were right outside Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer hospital so I pointed to the hospital and said “You should thank God you are not in there, I was in there four years ago”. That didn’t seem to change his attitude.
When we arrived in my neighborhood I warned him that there were speed cameras on most of the streets. He said that he knew about the speed traps and his demeanor seemed to change as he began talking about how different life was back in the 70’s and 80’s.
He had an oldies radio station that was playing “Born to be wild” by Steppenwolf. The LORD showed me that this man had trauma from something that happened in his past and the hurt in his heart was manifesting as anger.
Anger tends to be a surface emotion. If you look at what is driving the anger you will often find hurt, pain, rejection or fear.
The Holy Spirit is showing me that some of you are re-living your past, because you despise your present situations.
When you hear certain songs or see certain people it triggers an emotional response.
Some of you think about the “good old days” and others regret some of the things that you did in your past. Others have fallen back into your old ways and you don’t get convicted by The Holy Spirit any more when you do something wrong.
You desire to hear The LORD’s Voice, but other thoughts are clouding your thinking.
Some of you fell back into old habits and you nonchalantly talk and act the way that you did in the past.
Jesus wants to heal your hearts and remove all the pain from the past and fear of the future.
He wants you to forgive others that hurt you so that He could heal the burdensome and toxic relationships that you once had.
He wants your undivided attention not as a taskmaster, but He wants a personal intimate relationship with you. He loves you and is not judging or condemning you.
Allow Him to renew your way of thinking and help you change your old mindsets. Allow Him to remove all hostility and unforgiveness towards others.
You will become more sensitive to His Voice and His Leading as you allow The Holy Spirit to bring you back into alignment with Jesus by spending time with Him.
“Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit. Those who live in the Spirit are able to carefully evaluate all things, and they are subject to the scrutiny of no one but God.” 1 Corinthians 2:14-15.
“We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (TPT).
“I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know Him through your deepening intimacy with Him. I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light until you experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling — that is the wealth of Gods glorious inheritances that He finds in us, His holy ones!” Ephesians 1:17-18 (TPT).
