Come Out of Lo Debar!
Several years ago, as I was leaving Church The LORD asked me, “How long are you going to stay in Lo Debar?”
I found that an odd question. But, as always with God He has the answer He wants you to find.
I knew that Lo Debar was a place where Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth lived [2 Samuel 9:4–5], but I had no idea what it actually meant.
I looked up the definition of Lo Debar and this is what it said.
What is the meaning of lo debar in Hebrew?
(Joshua 13:26) The word means “no pasture,”(2 Samuel 17:27) “no word” or “no communication”.
Have you ever felt like there’s no word for you? No one talking to you? We’ve all been there.
Do you feel like you have no pasture?
Psalm 23 says that ‘He maketh us to lie down in green pastures’ which means provision and peace.
Mephibosheth didn’t end up in Lo Debar because of anything he did. It wasn’t his fault that his father died or that his nurse dropped him.
Sometimes we cause our own suffering by our choices, but a lot of the times it’s nothing to do with any of our choices.
Another definition I found for Lo Debar is ‘a forgotten place’. I KNOW we’ve all been there.
Jonathan was King David’s best friend and, through no fault of his own, his son found himself in a forgotten place.
But, King David remembered his friend and asked if there was anyone in Jonthan’s family that he could bless and was told about his son who was living in Lo Debar.
King David said to bring him and give him a place at my table! Wow…this is what our King Jesus has done for us! He’s brought us out of our forgotten places with no word or pasture and gave us a seat at HIS table.
Jesus is calling His Remnant out to come sit at His table. Listen! He’s saying come sit with me.
No longer are we forgotten. We have a place at the King’s Banqueting Table. What a blessing He has given us!
Remain hidden and forgotten no longer!
Rejoice and come OUT of Lo Debar — and take your place at The King’s Table!
“and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir,” Joshua 13:26
