Church Responsibilities
The Bible always divides things into two areas: The Spiritual and The Physical.
This applies to the way a Church is run and I quote the following passage which is ignored by Churches to their own hurt.
“1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word,” Acts 6:1-4.
Note: The leaders were to wait on God and seek His Will for the Church and the people in it.
The deacons were to deal with the worldly concerns such as administration and Church maintenance as well organising events of the Church.
The leaders would tell them anything God wanted the deacons to do, but otherwise the deacons were self managed as The Holy Spirit would guide them in their work.
So we have two problems:
This structure is not kept.
Most people do not seek the guidance of The Holy Spirit in their service of the Church and just accept what they are told to do.
Ministers run the Church and spend little time waiting on God and seeking His Will for the Church, so that the denomination or leaders in the Church are their guide, and not God.
As a result, they burn out, or do not do God’s Will for the Church and then wonder why it is not growing, and maybe even dying.
When the structure which God ordained is followed, and leaders seek God and His Will, and not seek to control earthly areas, then the Church will grow and expand The Kingdom of God.
