Lesson 3 – In a series – “Local Churches”

 

The Series Continues:

The reason why many churches (assemblies of Believers) have fallen away is because of the lack of true “FELLOWSHIP.” A Church at one time may have been a very strong and a blessed Fellowship of Believers, meeting the Bible pattern, only to fall away and become a RELIGIOUS SECT. Fellowship is the ingredient which is well defined in the scripture and needs to be understood. Without true Fellowship, there is no true FOUNDATION.

In the discourse found in the Book of Revelation describing the seven churches it should be noted that the Lord did warn them that if they did not repent He could remove their candlestick. (Revelation 2:5) Well, the very fact that a Church has been given a Candlestick is proof that God has accepted and is pleased with that Church. The Church Candlestick speaks to us as A LIGHT BEARER. In other words, God recognizes the Church which is WALKING IN THE LIGHT not darkness and gives out Light to a dark world. We are told that we have been brought out of the Kingdom of Darkness and we are now in the KINGDOM OF LIGHT. Any church who does not show forth the Light to the world could cease to be a LIGHT BEARER (Candlestick).

TRUE FELLOWSHIP IS THE INGREDIENT OF A TRUE (CANDLESTICK CHURCH). It is pointed out to us in 1 John 1:3-7 that true Fellowship must be with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ, if so than WE WILL HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER.

In such a environment of true Fellowship we are reminded that the Blood of Jesus Christ does continually cleans us from all sin. Read it now below:

“¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; ² (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) ³ That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
⁴ And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
⁵ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” 1 JOHN 1:3-7 KJV.

What are some ways that we are assured that we are LIVING IN TRUE FELLOWSHIP and having the correct Assembly? I believe that the following must be true in order to have this true Fellowship:

1. We must worship the Father and His Son in the power of His Holy Spirit. We should know that the very most important aspect of our lives or the Assembly is RELATIONSHIP with God. It must be a SPIRIT RELATIONSHIP OF LOVE. The first Church in Revelation was said to have done all right, except one thing… THEY LEFT THEIR FIRST LOVE having “COOLED OFF SPIRITUALLY”.

2. We must LIVE IN THE TRUTH AND WALK IN IT. This pathway is clearly revealed to us IN HIS WORD, THE BIBLE. God has given us the TRUE PATH to follow which is the TRUTH FOUND IN HIS WORD. Yet many today have let the Word of God fall through the cracks…. in their assembly, to the place the Word of God is no longer the pattern. Consider the following verse which speaks about LOVING THE LORD AND KEEPING HIS WORDS…. :

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him” 1 John 14:23.

In this verse it speaks of two things:

1. Loving the Lord. It says IF A MAN LOVE ME and
2. he will KEEP MY WORDS.

If a man is true in Fellowship, he will Love the Lord first of all and that love will cause him to want to keep the Lord’s Words.

Any church or assembly of people who are not LOVING JESUS CHRIST AND KEEPING HIS WORDS, whither they are the Written Words (Bible) or Spoken Words (the voice of the Lord), will not be in true Fellowship with the Lord. But if they do the above they will be blessed with the PRESENCE OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.. The Godhead will be MANIFEST TO THEM.

In this manifestation will come GREAT JOY. It is always a Joy to be in the Presence of the Living God, living in FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM and WALKING IN THE LIGHT.
