Called to Become Christ-like
I have just read an article calling on Christians to be as majestic eagles.
As I went through all the points that were noted, I realised how God actually did not want us to be any of those things.
You see, we like messages that call on us to be supermen and women – strong resilient and overcoming, imitating the qualities and the power, and exhibiting the strength and majesty, that so majestically sets these magnificent creatures apart.
Why?
Because it is far easier to be strong than it is to be weak!
It far easier to be in control, than to yield to be controlled.
It is far easier to choose to do, than to obey and follow as we are led to do.
Here’s the thing –
We were not called to imitate the birds of the skies, nor the king of the beasts, we were called to become Christ-like, to become lowly, obedient, yielded, weak, needy, and dependent in a relationship that requires us to give ourselves, for Himself to be made manifest in and through us each moment of every day!
We were not called to have the answers, but to allow Christ to become the Answer in us and through us.
We were not called to be powerful, but to yield to His Power working in and through us!
If we are to be the people in whom Christ will be seen in this generation, we will have to change our vision from being champions of the faith, to becoming no more than yielded vessels through whom Christ may conquer, reign and be glorified.
