“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things,” 1 John 2:20 NKJV.

“But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things,” 1 John 2:20 KJV.

One cannot help but wonder, just how many of our people, even remember hearing this word.

It is part of our history, that many taught things ministered by the Holy Ghost, without any formal training.

Wasn’t it likely, that it was their prayer life and their sincere desire to be lead and taught by the Spirit, that made them great people of wisdom and knowledge? They did not know those things beforehand.

There were schools of the Prophets in days of old, just like we came to have Bible Schools in our time.

It came to be an honorable thing. But we never were misled, that any of our studies were of much content or value, without the Spirit of the LORD was there to teach also.

Without seeming harsh, we knew of other persuasions that had great degree; but seemed to lack the depth of the Spirit that we learned was so vital.

The apostle was writing about some things that he thought we should be aware of. In the same text, he spoke of something we once heard a lot of, about not loving the world, or loving the things of the world.

It was here that he also mentioned that “antichrist hath come,” even now, are many antichrists; which we know that it is the last time (1 John 2:18). Many were already against Christ and His teachings; just as we find them now.

It must be proclaimed, even though many like to refute or disagree, that many words spoken in both Testaments, were two-fold in their timing.

Perhaps, this knowledge must come by revelation through the Spirit, through the same process we are talking about here.

The same Spirit, moved across the pages of the Old Testament, just as He did in the words of the New. It was written that, “My people perish,” from the lack of wisdom. The Teacher, the Holy Ghost, not given freedom.

This anointed apostle, in the same reading, went on to speak of something else we may have given much too little thought to.

He spoke of those who were no longer with us. It seems to say, that it’s because they were “never” with us.

They were never who we were, from the beginning. There are other things that could be said here, but I believe we must each let the Spirit, further deal with us and help us to ponder on this.

But some of us, knew that. I ask God right now to help me to be kind, and not only critical.

How did we know that? It is because of what the apostle said right here.

“But ye have an unction from the Holy One; and ye know all things.”

This is how they were going to be able to tell and discern all of these things, then, and it is the same thing that is going to tell us the difference now. We might have had to go along; but we knew.

You cannot describe this “unction,” if you’ve never felt it.

It is of the Spirit, and there is no substitution; nothing that comes even close in comparison.

How precious it is; strange, that there are no human words to even express it. And there was never meant to be; not on man’s scale.

t’s true power; it’s what determines what is real, and what is not. No act, no show, no plan and no orchestration of men, expresses it.

Now to what I believe is the crux of this message. Alright. We knew it then, and we know it now. What are we going to do with it.

A prophet of old spoke of God’s people, who would not receive correction. He said their prophets were light, and that they were treacherous. He went on to say that their priests, had polluted the sanctuary.

We must re-test the spirit of many things again (1 John 4:1-3). It must be done, by the unction of the Holy One.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world,” 1 John 4:1-3.
