Bring The Difficulties To GOD
Jethro said to his highly GOD-educated-and-experienced son-in-law: “bring the difficulties to GOD.”
It was a Divinely inspired, appointed and timely counsel that exceedingly relieved the man of GOD of a burden he had been unnecessarily carrying in the wilderness.
Many in The Body of CHRIST are likewise unnecessarily carrying lots of burdens in the wilderness of this life.
Moses was carrying all the burdens of all of Israel. He would sit from morning until evening to hear them, deliver justice and teach them THE WORD.
As he said:
“When they have a difficulty, they come to me, and I judge between one and another; and I make known The Statutes of GOD and His Laws.” Exodus 18:16.
What happened was that,
“Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he [Moses] had sent her back, [from Egypt] with her two sons, of whom the name of one was Gershom (for he said, “I have been a stranger in a foreign land”) and Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses in the wilderness, where he was encamped at The Mountain of GOD. Now he had said to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons with her.” Exodus 18:2-3,5-6.
“And so it was, on the next day, that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood before Moses from morning until evening. So when Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did for the people, he said, “What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit, and all the people stand before you from morning until evening?” And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of GOD. When they have a difficulty, they come to me, and I judge between one and another; and I make known The Statutes of GOD and His Laws.” So Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you do is not good. Both you and these people who are with you will surely wear yourselves out. For this thing is too much for you; you are not able to perform it by yourself. Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and GOD will be with you: Stand before GOD for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to GOD. And you shall teach them The Statutes and The Laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do. Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear GOD, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you. If you do this thing, and GOD so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace.” So Moses heeded the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said. And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people: rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. So they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but they judged every small case themselves. Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went his way to his own land.” Exodus 18:13-27.
Jethro means abundance; overflow; surplus.
Our GOD — The Living and True GOD, has EXCEEDING abundance; overflow; surplus for us in any situation, regarding any situation — physical or spiritual.
He has ABUNDANCE to do anything for us. As written, “this is an easy thing for THE LORD to do.” (2 Kings 3:18 GNT).
Because of His Lovingkindness, because of His tender Mercies, because of,
“The Love of CHRIST Which passes knowledge“, THE LORD JESUS says: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”” Matthew 11:28.
Let us therefore come to Him. Let us “bring the difficulties to GOD.” (Exodus 18:19). And He will help us with anything, anytime, anywhere. He is sure to give us rest.
ONLY JESUS can give us rest. As He has said:
“And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?“ Luke 12:25-26.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to GOD; and The Peace of GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through CHRIST JESUS.” Philippians 4:6-7.
Therefore, let us labour “to enter that rest” (Hebrews 4:3,9,10) and rest in Him by always making sure to quickly bring our difficulties to Him.
“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter The Holiest by The Blood of Jesus, by a New and Living Way Which He consecrated for us, through The Veil, that is, His Flesh, and having a High Priest over The House of GOD, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with Pure Water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He Who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:19-23.
“Let us therefore come boldly to The Throne of Grace, that we may obtain Mercy and find Grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16.
Is there something too much for you? Bring it to GOD to do for you.
As Jethro said to Moses, “this thing is too much for you“; “bring the difficulties to GOD.” (Exodus 18:18, 19).
Don’t carry that burden. Hand it over to JESUS. And He will give you rest. Do it by Faith — fully trusting THE LORD to do it for you.
( Please read a previous Word: “We Can ONLY Live By Our PRECIOUS Faith In These Fearful Times“. )
“For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My Kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My Covenant of Peace be removed,” says The LORD, who has Mercy on you.” Isaiah 54:10.
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of Jesus Christ by The Will of God, according to The Promise of Life which is in Christ Jesus, (2 Timothy 1:1).
As John was, Jacob is the disciple whom JESUS loves, (John 13:23;19:26; 20:2; 21:7,20). And like Paul, Jacob is “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
“And having been perfected, He became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
Nothing is too hard for Him to do! Our God is a specialist who handles all troubles, fixes all damages, surmount all challenges, solve all problems, heals all sicknesses e.t.c. I can attest to the fact that God has surmounted countless stubborn problems for my friends, family & I.
