Being In The Garden Alone With JESUS
Every moment of my breath, no matter what is happening or I am doing, or wherever I am, only One Thing I desire in the one place I ensure to be and remain: Alone with JESUS in the garden of my heart, as Mary Magdalene did in The Garden on Resurrection Day.
That one-on-One with JESUS: always desiring Him, seeking Him, studying Him (His Word), knowing Him, communing with Him, worshiping Him, praising Him and pleasing Him, is the only pursuit by which we thrive and are sustained in the wearying land and wilderness of this life.
com·mun·ing
to converse or talk together, usually with profound intensity, intimacy, etc.; interchange thoughts or feelings. (dictionary.com).
No matter what, where and when, The Place to dwell, always, is in His Presence by communing with Him.
David captures it ever so well:
‘One thing I have desired of THE LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in The House of THE LORD All the days of my life, To behold The Beauty of THE LORD, And to inquire in His Temple. When You said, “Seek My Face,” My heart said to You, “Your Face, LORD, I will seek.” Psalm 27:4,8.
The whole of Psalm 27, indeed all Scripture, is Divine Instruction and Power by which to thrive and be sustained — because The Gospel of CHRIST is The Power of GOD; The Word of THE CROSS is The Power of GOD (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 1:18).
We must only depend on THE LORD and His Mighty Power, not the arm of flesh.
When people who should care, forsake you, THE LORD will take care of you. Just cry with your voice to Him. He will hear and help you.
We get Light and Salvation to overcome by that one-on-One with JESUS. It is Immeasurable Treasure, The ALL-POWERFUL Possession in this present evil age.
“THE LORD is my Light and my Salvation; Whom shall I fear? THE LORD is The Strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of THE LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in The House of THE LORD all the days of my life, to behold The Beauty of THE LORD, and to inquire in His Temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His Pavilion; in The Secret Place of His Tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore I will offer Sacrifices of Joy in His Tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to THE LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have Mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My Face,” My heart said to You, “Your Face, LORD, I will seek.” Do not hide Your Face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my Help; do not leave me nor forsake me, O GOD of my Salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then THE LORD will take care of me. Teach me Your Way, O LORD, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of THE LORD In the land of the living. Wait on THE LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on THE LORD!” Psalm 27:1-14.
On Resurrection Day, Mary Magdalene relentlessly waited alone in The Garden and sought THE LORD’s Body fervently. And THE LORD showed up ALIVE for her. She was the first person to see JESUS after He rose from the dead, (John 20:11–18).
The garden of our hearts is the place to always be alone with THE LORD, to see THE LORD.
And as The Body of CHRIST, “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to THE LORD,” (Ephesians 5:19).
“Let The Word of CHRIST dwell in you richly in all Wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with Grace in your hearts to THE LORD.” Colossians 3:16.
“In The Garden”, the popular 1912 hymn by Charles Austin Miles (1868–1946) is a befitting psalm to sing and meditate on and make melody with as A Sacrifice of Joy to THE LORD.
In The Garden
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And The Voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and The Sound of His Voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Tho’ the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; thro’ the voice of woe,
His Voice to me is calling.
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Addison Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of JESUS CHRIST by The Will of GOD, according to The Promise of Life Which is in CHRIST JESUS, (2 Timothy 1:1).
Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire. My will is to do His Will.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves. And like Paul, I am “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, the disciple whom JESUS loves and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He [JESUS] became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
I absolutely love that song, Jacob. I like this part:
“The garden of our hearts is the place to always be alone with THE LORD, to see THE LORD. Thanks so much for sharing. God bless you, my brother. Sandi
