Be Separated and Touch not the unclean!
WHO ARE YOU YOKED WITH? Part 3
See also Parts 1 & 2 and Part 4.
Beloved, this is so exciting, for we are building together, and our foundation in Jesus is growing stronger. We as Christians need to be sure we are under one head, Christ Jesus our Lord, for He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords…. He must be YOUR KING AND YOUR LORD.
Let’s look at our scripture again, for more jewels:
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty,” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJV).
Today I want to focus on verse 17,
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” (KJV).
“Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you,” (NKJV).
We must receive the admonition and warning to come out from unbelievers and BE SEPARATE, and TOUCH NOT (attach oneself to) THE UNCLEAN THING. In the Strong’s Concordance ‘unclean‘ [ἀκάθαρτος, akathartos, ak-ath’-ar-tos] means: impure, lewd, demonic.
Beloved, it is an unclean spirit. Uncleanness will come out of a persons mouth, causing negativity, disruption, and generating turmoil. These spirits are unholy, and they resist and oppose God, and they oppress Gods people, holding them down and captive, keeping them from being healthy and whole as God desires.
Mental illness, epilepsy, and schizophrenia are extreme examples, while others are stuck in negative patterns in life, like addictions, and can’t or won’t help themselves….. these people drain the life out of those around them. Unclean spirits are in church, keeping the members in turmoil, causing fighting and even the splitting of congregations.
Let’s look at some scripture to see more about them and how they are at work:
“And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; and commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: but be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them,” Mark 6:1-13 (KJV).
Let’s look at this scripture closely, because it is an excellent example of what I have already shared. Jesus and His disciples came into His own country, and because it was the Sabbath, He went to teach in the synagogue, and as He taught the people marveled. It says many were astonished, such great wisdom and mighty works from His hands. Then…. They reasoned in their hearts, because they began to question who He was!
An awesome meeting was taking place, and the enemy interrupted it to discredit Jesus….. and sent an unclean spirit to spoil those who were weak and take them captive in doubt and unbelief. When they took their eyes off the truth and put it only on what they saw and knew, they blurted out only what they could understand… they were offended (enticed to sin).
The enemy enticed them to sin and they in turn were deceived into unbelief, “A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them…. He marveled at their UNBELIEF,” Mark 6:4-6.
This was a great example for the disciples before He sent them out two by two, and HE GAVE THEM POWER OVER UNCLEAN SPIRITS.
I believe Jesus wanted them to see it and be aware of the wicked forces at work, and, to know they had power to overcome them in Jesus Christ. He shared with them how they were to behave in faith as they went out, and the seriousness and power of the message they were to preach.
What was that message? REPENT! Turn away from sin, repent of not believing the truth, repent of putting your faith in someone or something else other than Jesus, turn from trusting in your own works to get you to heaven, THEN, TURN TO JESUS and put your faith in Him and believe what He has done for you on the cross, God is holy…. salvation is a gift, you cheapen what Christ has done for you when you rely on yourself.
After they preached repentance (the gospel), signs, wonders, and miracles followed. Why are we not seeing Jesus move today in the churches? Few are preaching repentance and the cross, and many don’t even have an altar call to receive Him…. If there are any in earshot of this message who are guilty of disrupting and standing in the way, by interjecting doubt or unbelief through your words, YOU NEED TO REPENT….. YOU ARE STANDING IN OPPOSITION TO JESUS, YOU HAVE GIVEN AN UNCLEAN SPIRIT ROOM IN YOUR LIFE.
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God,” 2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV).
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!” Psalm 119:1-5 (KJV).
Now, take a look at this scripture:
“And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out,” Luke 4:33-36 (KJV).
Notice that when these spirits get around Jesus, they manifest, even in church… they know His authority and become agitated. My friends, what is coming out of your mouth, is it criticism, is it a challenge against Jesus… are you caught up in the pointing of the finger?
It’s time to recognize who you are in Christ and kick that devil out of your life, because if you keep allowing him room he will not only bring defeat to your life but to others.
“When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first,” Luke 11:21-26 (KJV).
You must stay on guard, with your armor on, for “the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasoning’s and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),” 2 Corinthians 10:4,5.
“And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many,” Mark 5:2-9 (KJV).
Look at this extreme situation and what the unclean spirit had this man do: he dwelt among the tombs, he didn’t wear any clothes (Luke 7), he could not be bound or chained by any man, night and day he was in the mountains crying out and cutting himself with stones.
I believe when he saw Jesus he knew Jesus had authority, as the unclean spirits spoke out of him accusing Jesus of tormenting them. But, look later at the man, after Jesus cast out the unclean spirit, he was sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind… he was healed (Luke 7).
Beloved, the bible says perilous times are upon us, and we are warned:
“For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: FROM SUCH TURN AWAY,” 2 Timothy 3:2-5 (KJV).
“I then heard another voice from heaven saying, Come out from her, my people, so that you may not share in her sins, neither participate in her plagues,” Revelation 18:4 (AMPC).
I want to take you back to Genesis. Remember the bible says of Jesus’ second coming:
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,” Matthew 24:36-39 (KJV).
In Genesis 6 we have the account of the days of Noah leading right up to the flood.
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD,” Genesis 6:1-8.
Who are these sons of God, and what were they doing? Every time the term ‘sons of God’ is used in the Old Testament, it refers to angels. These angels left their first estate in heaven, and it says they saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful, and took them as wives, and giants were born. So, ‘sons of God’ means different from man. This happened 120 years before the flood, “and God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with all the earth,” (Genesis 6:12-13).
We are talking about a spirit being, an angel, taking daughters of men as wives and having children with them. This is not natural, and surely forbidden….. STRANGE FLESH.
In Jude 6-8 we have more information about this:
“And angels who did not keep (care for, guard, and hold to) their own first place of power but abandoned their proper dwelling place — these He has reserved in custody in eternal chains (bonds) under the thick gloom of utter darkness until the judgment and doom of the great day.
[The wicked are sentenced to suffer] just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the adjacent towns — which likewise gave themselves over to impurity and indulged in unnatural vice and sensual perversity — are laid out [in plain sight] as an exhibit of perpetual punishment [to warn] of everlasting fire.
Nevertheless in like manner, these dreamers also corrupt the body, scorn and reject authority and government, and revile and libel and scoff at [heavenly] glories (the glorious ones),” Jude 6-8 (AMPC).
Beloved, yes this is extreme, but just as we saw in Sodom and Gomorrah, the very angels that went to get Lot and his family, became targets of homosexual men. Homosexuality is strange flesh:
“Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and [a]godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves].
And by them the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God were exchanged for and represented by images, resembling mortal man and birds and beasts and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their [own] hearts to sexual impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], Because they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever! Amen (so be it)……
Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways. [They were] secret backbiters and gossipers, slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents.
[They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless [and] merciless. Though they are fully aware of God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them,” Romans 1:21-25,29-32 (AMPC).
Beloved, it goes from bad to worse, and those times are not unlike ours. This is not natural, not the way God intended, for a man to lie with a man or a woman to lie with a woman. It’s time to be separated unto the Lord, to make your final decision to be yoked only with Jesus. Recognize the times, and be warned that a day of judgment is coming.
“But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God,” Romans 2:2-11 (KJV).
Beloved, I know I have talked of many instances of an unclean spirit in the scriptures….. it was rampant in Jesus day, and it is in ours. It’s time to come out and be separate for Jesus, and walk in purity and holiness……… .surely you do not want God’s wrath upon you.
We are in a battle, and the devil appeals to the flesh, the mind, the soul, and our desires. But there is hope with Jesus, for the Bible says:
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh,” Galatians 5:16 (KJV).
God Bless You, you are in my prayers
