At His Feet
An excerpt from “At His Feet” by Robin Kirby Gatto.
“I have read this scripture in John 21 many times, and seen revelations, where Jesus restored Peter by asking him three times, making Peter’s denial of three times a mute issue.
However, there was something more distinctive that I noticed about four years ago that forever changed me. I myself had been going through warfare and wanted to leave ministry thinking there was someone else much more qualified than I, to do what I was doing.
I had come to feel like Peter, unworthy and the last one God should choose. However, through my sifting, as I was being sifted by Satan, who was speaking to my soul the commentary of yesterday, God revealed to me ONE thing.
He revealed to me the only thing that qualified Peter was his love for Jesus! Jesus did not ask Peter if he felt capable; Peter surely did not.
Jesus did not ask Peter if he was ready to return to ministry; Peter surely did not.
Finally, Jesus did not ask Peter if he remembered everything he had been taught, although Jesus already knew.
The only that qualified Peter was “DO YOU LOVE ME?” To this Peter responded each time “Yes I love You!”
God then revealed to me the exact thing was going on with me because I was giving Him every excuse of why I could not be used by Him for ministry.
I would throw up excuse after excuse, and each time God asked me, “Robin do you love Me?”
I found myself wanting to throw up other excuses, and what I came to realize, is that those excuses were the masks I was wearing in my defense-mechanisms of the manipulations of my soul, where the enemy had me living on yesterday’s commentary to keep me from being in Uncommon Tarry with God!
All God asked from me is “Robin do you love Me?”
Loving Him is what qualified me for the call. Because of the stripping and sifting I went through I had been so humbled in order to remove pride and self-righteousness to move me up to the next level of ministry work God called me.
What qualifies you and I in going higher in the call of Christ Jesus is our Uncommon Tarry, otherwise known as our LOVE for Him.
Uncommon means something out of the ordinary, it is unusual and extraordinary. Tarry means to stay longer than you intended where you delay leaving a place. This is what love is!
It is where we choose to stay longer than we intended because our carnal mind wars against the love of God. It is God’s love in us that keeps us longer than we can imagine, in a call that sounds foolish to others, and makes us want to run.
His love causes us to tarry in the call to watch the extraordinary happen because it is no longer us, but the love of God ablaze in our heart that is keeping us where we are called to be!”
