Are You Spiritual or Religious?

Jesus told the religious Pharisee Nicodemus that just because he was religious and belonged to a church, that was…

Not enough!

Jesus went on and told him that he had to be born again of the Holy Spirit in order to be spiritual.

Or …. We might just say…. “Saved and right with God”.

Jesus told Nicodemus that even as he was one time born in the flesh from his mother’s womb…. that he must be also……. one time born, the second time by the Holy Spirit.

There are many today who go to church weekly [very often] but who go there for the wrong reason.

They think, as Nicodemus thought, that would make them spiritual. Not so, according to Jesus.

Please read the following carefully.

There is a great difference between doing religious works and receiving the Holy Spirit.

The difference between these two things is: eternal salvation!

One cannot [it is impossible] be anywhere near being accepted by God and forgiven of their sins by….. doing religious things, or works.

The reason why it is impossible, is because no man can totally keep all God’s laws and live perfectly… because…

Every man is born a sinner after the likeness of Adam.

The Bible says that Adam sinned and when he sinned [in the garden with Eve by eating the forbidden fruit] and when he sinned… his sin passed upon all other men after him.

See it here:

“….. wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned,” Romans 5:12.

In the above, Romans 5:12 verse it clearly says that by one man did sin come into the world and that the results of that sin then death passed upon all men, because it is evident that all men sinned [in Adam].

This then is a very important point that must be understood before one can even understand why he or she must be born again.

It is imperative that you understand that you are born a sinner and that sin was Adam’s. In Adam you are born a sinner. Plain and simple.

If you are born a sinner because of Adam, then that is what makes you lost. Any person in Adam’s sin is….. lost in sin.

Literally, any person must find out why he/ she is lost, to even find out what must be done.

I have often told people they need to be saved. They reply many times: “Saved from what?”

I say then to them, “Sin.” Then many come back and say: “Oh I am not that bad, I really am trying hard to be good.”

“The fact is,” then I must point out, “how can one be good when they are born bad? The scriptures tell us then: can a leopard change his spots or… can a black man the color of his skin [or any color of man to that fact?]?

Of course no animal can change his color or spots, etc, and no man can change his color he was born into. Neither can a sinner change the fact that he is a sinner!

Then what must a sinner do to change?

Jesus said there was and is only one way to change… This terrible fact, and first of all religious works would not be enough [Nicodemus above… ***the religious Pharisee].

Jesus then explained to the religious lost sinner…

You must be born again of … the Spirit.

Any and all men are born in the flesh, but according to jesus that flesh cannot be saved because it is sinful after the likeness of Adam.

Religious works fall short of accomplishing the complete cleansing from this original sin every sinner born into this world has….

So. Jesus said another birth must happen. A second birth. This time that birth must be spiritual.

Here is my question to you then:

Are you spiritual? Do you have this new life in the spirit?

Or…

Are you fleshly? Maybe even … Religious, but still fleshly?

Jesus answered, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit,”” John 3:1-8 (KJV).
