Are All Believers in Christ Disciples?
Today there are many teaching and preaching a very confusing and hurtful message, that the CALL TO DISCIPLESHIP is the CALL TO SALVATION!
What they are suggesting in this teaching is that anyone seeking salvation must forsake all, to be saved and also they must “Count the Cost of becoming a Christian,” stating there is a Price to pay for Eternal Salvation.
It is of very serious concern doctrinally, to declare that [in order to become saved a person] MUST FORSAKE ALL AND PAY THE COST!
This is False Teaching obviously because: The Word of God clearly declares Salvation is free and by the unmerited Grace of God!
There is NO cost to any person to be Saved, because the Bible clearly states that Salvation is a free gift, given to all who Believe.
The Scriptures point out that one has only to believe in Jesus Christ to be saved, and that a person does NOT have to WORK to be saved!
Just the opposite — the Word of God says, If one works, then it cannot be a gift!
If one does anything to be saved, it is not free!
Please consider the following Scriptures:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT OF GOD: not of works, lest any man should boast,” Ephesians 2:8-9.
“But not as the offence, so also is THE FREE GIFT. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the GIFT BY GRACE, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
And not as it was by one that sinned, so is THE FREE GIFT: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but THE FREE GIFT is of many offences unto justification.
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ,” Romans 5:15-17.
“Jesus answered and said unto her, “If thou knewest THE GIFT OF GOD, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have GIVEN THEE living water,”” John 4:10.
Jesus taught in Matthew 28:18-20 that we must first Go to the World and Preach the Gospel.
The Gospel Message must be BELIEVED, after that he commanded to Baptize people and teach them to observe all that he commanded.
The word “DISCIPLE” means simply that one is A LEARNER.
Jesus had many Disciples (pupils). Some, like Judas, were even unsaved! But all disciples were learners.
It is therefore clear to one studying the Word of God, NOT ALL who followed Jesus were mature and even good Disciples, but only those who were willing to give themselves to study and giving up many things.
Even Jesus told them, “Come see and follow Me, but I warn you, the son of man has no where to lay his head.”
in other words, Jesus said he slept where ever he found a place, and the going was going to be hard!.
After one becomes saved, then the process of learning and discipleship begins. If a saved person receives instruction, he would rightly be called a Disciple regardless of how mature or immature he was in Christ.
Even an immature believer could be called a Disciple. Either one who is learning and studying is considered to have been a believer but, ALL were not mature or perfected disciples, or more likely disciples who were relatively immature.
It does cost to be a disciple!
For sure, many are not willing to give up all things to be a mature and grown up Disciple, but [let me point out plainly]… they clearly could be SAVED, yet by his FREE GIFT through Faith.
It is also clear that all will stand before the judgment seat of Christ to see [how they built upon their salvation — or the foundation laid in Jesus Christ].
But this Judgment Seat is not to discover who is saved or not! NO! The Judgment Seat will be to discover what sort of works one did choose to do… after being saved.
Not all who are Saved, go on to become mature disciples for Christ. It is clear that ALL will choose a path and that choice may or may not be into maturity of becoming perfect disciples.
It is clear then, one can be saved but not be a good disciple!
One can be saved, and then even lose rewards, because they did not become a good Disciples of Christ!
Conclusion
It is a very serious false teaching to tell people they must give up all things to be saved!
If such a doctrine is taught, many will definitely be led away to WORK for that which they cannot obtain.
Salvation can only be received and cannot be worked and gained.
The Scriptures tell us plainly that the keeping of the law or doing good works was something no person could do… the law could not make men righteous, but that God did have to send Jesus to condemn sin in the flesh to save men!
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us…….” Romans 8:3-4.
To teach than any person must give up all things no matter what the Cost to become a
“SAVED”, is one of the most outward of all false teachings.
It cuts across the very nature of true salvation as a gift, and makes Eternal Life dependent upon discipleship, or his works.
If that is what it will take to become a “Saved Person”, who will ever be sure they are saved? Seeing that if one must be a perfect disciple, he cannot be saved!

I have written this Teaching Word in obedience to my Spirit Teacher.
Lord shut the mouths of those telling people that salvation can only be received by a Disciple.
Help them know that a True Saved Person, can become a disciple, but NOT ALL are willing to give all to serve Jesus.
