Angels in the Lions’ Den
Every one of us are familiar with the story about Daniel in the Lions’ den.
It is not a fictitious story as some may think, but it is an actual encounter that Daniel had experienced as God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions.
As I read this scripture, the Holy Spirit began to show me several things. King Darias appointed 120 satraps (princes) to rule throughout the kingdom with three administrators in which one was Daniel.
The king wanted to appoint Daniel to rule over the whole kingdom because of his exceptional qualities. The satraps were envious and tried to find grounds for charges against him but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; and there was no error or fault found in him.
All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisers wanted to take Daniels life to keep him from a position of authority.
The LORD is showing me that many of you have people who are speaking against you and trying to remove you from your position. They are trying to stop you from what you were called to do.
They don’t realize that they are coming against God’s plan, but they are determined to plot evil against you. There is a fight for promotion, but as you remain humble and steadfast, the LORD will continue to raise you up to where you belong.
Every plan of the enemy will be rendered null and void as you stay faithful and loyal to Jesus and His word because He is guarding you.
The story goes on to say that they convinced King Darius to sign a law saying that for the next thirty days anyone who prayed except for the king would be thrown into the lions’ den.
The king was honored and didn’t recognize that it was a plot against Daniel, so he made the law and signed it. Daniel who always prayed three times a day continued to pray even though he knew about this law.
Daniel was then thrown into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.”
Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his Lord, so that this law could not be reversed.
King Darias couldn’t sleep that night because he was so grieved in his conscience. The next morning he went to the lions’ den and called out to Daniel saying: “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
Daniel replied to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”
Daniel was not angry or bitter towards the king, because He knew God’s promises and will for his life.
King Darias was amazed and then commanded that the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children.
And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones. King Darias then issued a decree that in every part of his kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel.
King Darias then confessed: “For He is the living God and He endures forever; His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”
So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
As I read these scriptures, The Holy Spirit gave me a revelation of this similitude (parable). Just as a stone was placed over Jesus tomb and God sent an angel to remove the stone, a stone was also placed over the lions’ den and the LORD sent an angel to shut the mouth of the lions against Daniel.
You may be facing situations that seem impossible to get out of in the natural, but The LORD will also send an angel to shut the mouths of the lions and you will come out unharmed.
Those who are rising against you will also be grieved in their conscience as they see what the LORD is doing in your life as well as His incredible provisions, and miraculous interventions.
Just as the stone was removed and Daniel was set free, He will also set you free from this den of affliction. Jesus is the Lion of Judah and He is releasing you from any pit that the enemy might be trying to hold you in.
As you put your trust in Jesus, you will also experience magnificent encounters in your life.
“Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his Lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed,” Daniel 6:17.
“Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth: “May you prosper greatly.” I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God and he endures forever; His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian,” Daniel 6:25-28.
“Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard,” Matthew 27:65-66.
