And Being in Agony He Prayed More Earnestly
The Gethsemane Grace For Prayer:
When In Agony, Pray More Earnestly!
The Holy Spirit says it all — loaded with the perfect prayer strategy: when in agony, when in difficulty, when suffering, pray more earnestly.
That’s what our LORD Jesus did.
There, on His knees in The Garden of Gethsemane, was The Son of God: holy, innocent, undefiled, and separate from sinners.
He knew no sin in all of His Life Time. But now, very shortly, He was about to bear ALL the sins of all men (past, present and future) in His HOLY Body! The SINLESS Son of God bore all the FILTH and weight of our sins in His Body, (1 Peter 2:24).
(As I wrote in a previous Word, the heavy filth of sin our LORD Jesus Christ bore in His Body was MUCH, MUCH MORE than the physical equivalent of all faeces/ ‘toilet’, sewage, refuse, and all other pollutions of all mankind ever born, and yet to be born.
Jesus alone bore it all on The Cross: homosexuality, adultery, fornication, pornography, abortion and all other murders, occultism, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, evil speaking, bitterness, wrath, anger, malice, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, drunkenness, drug addiction, revelries, lying, and all other sins and their filthy, stinking, revolting stench and pollution.
The sinless Jesus bore them all in His HOLY Body. The LORD bore the punishment of all our sins in our place.
Furthermore, He bore all that filthy burden and stench of sin together with His EXCRUCIATING wounds by which we are healed. The whipping of our LORD wounded Him with blows that cut in.)
And so, knowing what He was about to endure, Jesus was in the most painful agony. But instead of despair, He prayed more earnestly, and,
“when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death [raise Him up], and was heard because of His Godly fear,” Hebrews 5:7.
“And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” Luke 22:44.
At same time, His disciples on the other hand, were “sleeping from sorrow.” (Luke 22:45).
With so many of us going through very painful situations, we must not be overcome by sorrow, but rather pray more earnestly with Godly fear, and Jesus, Who is called Faithful and True, will surely answer.
Ask The LORD Jesus for the Gethsemane Grace for Prayer. It is The Anointing for prayer by The Spirit of Grace and supplication. Pray for The Grace to pray like Jesus. Pray more earnestly.
“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;” Colossians 4:2.
We must pray with perseverance, always asking for The Help of The Holy Spirit:
“Likewise The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered,” Romans 8:26.
Holy Spirit-uttered prayer is perfectly effective. And,“the earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and produces wonderful results,” (James 5:16 NLT).
“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed — always carrying about in the body The Dying of The LORD Jesus, that The Life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Corinthians4:8-10 emphasis added.
Let’s be steadfast like The LORD Jesus: He prayed all the way to The Cross, on The Cross, and out of hell. David recorded what Jesus prayed while in hell, disarming the principalities and powers, triumphing over them in The Cross:
“O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.
I will bless The LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
I have set The LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope.
For You will not leave my soul in sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore,” Psalm 16:5-11.
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of Jesus Christ by The Will of God, according to The Promise of Life which is in Christ Jesus, (2 Timothy 1:1). As John was, Jacob is the disciple whom JESUS loves, (John 13:23;19:26; 20:2; 21:7,20). And like Paul, Jacob is “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
“And having been perfected, He became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
Awesome. Thank You.
