Anchor — Go Past the Veil!
“The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone.” Acts 27:20.
When Blows thee the storms of life
Behold I stand;
Anchored in the palm
Of him who controls the storm!
The palm
That held the nails for me
will hold me fast and secure to God
As I sing of his steadfastness!
I was looking up the very structure of an Anchor which has many units and has an arm, a palm and a shape of a Cross which draws much spiritual attention .
When we face storms in life which is prolonged and is out of the natural realm (Sun and the stars blotting out) the supernatural opens through a door called, “ Hope”.
Hope presents us in the inner courts before God and helps us see and speak to him beyond the veil.Hope brings us nearer to God’s heart.
It immediately restores our place and position in Christ which is the greatest access to the richest treasures of a believer
Four Anchors : Four Winds, Four Directions
“Fearing that we might run aground somewhere on the rocks, they cast four anchors from the stern and wished for daybreak.” Acts 27:29.
Four is a divine significance for the four winds as they represent four direction. It represents four corners of the earth, (East, West, North and the South)
“Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says The LORD God, “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life.”’” Ezekiel 37:9.
Angelic activity in the four corners of the earth:
“After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.” Revelation 7:1.
Direction of waters :
Right at the Garden of Eden the river turned into four rivers as per the directions East, West, North and South.
“A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers….
…. They were the Pishon, the Gihon, the Tigris and the Euphrates.” Genesis 2:10-14.
The Blessed hope of The Cross :
Anchors are those that give us hope amidst fear and help us stand fastened to it in the raging storm!
Anchors are knows to be a great Instrument in the heart of the sea, a friend of the sailors, and sets a sail in direction, holding fast the ship to the sea, in the face of the storm .
“So the men hoisted it aboard. Then they passed ropes under the ship itself to hold it together. Because they were afraid they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and let the ship be driven along.” Acts 27:17.
The fact that the shape of an anchor stems from the image of a Cross is interesting and demands comparison for understanding and relevance.
It can easily symbolise by its image, a Cross, that connects the ship to a firm place in the sea, through the hard chains drilled connected to its loop on one end and on the other end, The Cross diverges Into two solid curves which are sharp like arrows and is firmly drilled into the sea, keeping afloat the structure of The Cross.
Every tide in the sea embraces The Cross, as it touches the Anchor. Symbolically it removes the curse of death and defeat and keeps us afloat in the midst of troubles.
The Cross carries the Weight! What a blessed hope to the Sea , the Sailor and the Sail!
Grounded :
It is during times of trouble that people Hold on to an anchor! It is a life support! As we represent the Kingdom of God on earth.
Many Anchor themselves to us spiritually and for Moral support. They lean or fasten themselves to us, stay around us, until they can be on their own and then sail on!
Anchors are as heavy as the role they play simply because they have a weight of the glory of God .
This weight of Glory “Kabod” separates out and Draws others to count on them . Anchors can get too heavy unless used in the right situation .
It needs to be lifted off or loosened once the weather is perfect in-order to set sail. If not discontinued within the time frame as the storms gets clear, the Anchors by themselves may turnout to be a burden disrupting the sail!
Let them Go! And you move on to greater works! All Anchors, other than Jesus Christ, are temporary and hopeless! Lead them to The Cross !
“Cutting loose the anchors, they left them in the sea and at the same time untied the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach.” Acts 27:40.
Are we ready to accept this?
Do we agree, when people cut loose their connections with us after a season?
Do we direct People to God, Who is the only Hope that is sure and steadfast — the One connection that enters within the veil?
The greatest distance one could journey is to find God — past the Veil.
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, (Hebrews 6:9).
