Ambassadors for Christ
Over the past several years there have been many occasions where I’ve written about or spoken of our roles as ambassadors.
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God” 2 Corinthians 5:20.
So this role of ambassador is God given and clearly defined by the Apostle Paul in his second letter to the church in Corinth.
Over the past few days the LORD has been driving home a point regarding this role which we have been given. Ambassador is a title of distinction. It is also a title which is well known. This includes being well known by many who live in the land to which we have been sent to represent the Kingdom.
Ambassadors have their names and titles propagated all around them. They appear on the doors to their offices. They appear on their business cards. They appear on the placards placed on their desks.
Covert CIA agents are the polar opposites of ambassadors. Unlike an ambassador, a CIA agent is constantly compelled to disguise their true identity. They move about in the land to which they have been assigned in such a way as to not be discovered.
The fact is we are called to be ambassadors but it seems more Christians have chosen to take on the role of covert agent.
In order to make an impact we must make ourselves known… not for our own benefit but for the sake of the one who gave us the position. We make known our names, our titles and therefore the roles that we are assigned. In stating these simple facts we put ourselves in a position to make an impact.
With all of this in mind, my question is…
ARE YOU AN AMBASSADOR OR ARE YOU A COVERT CIA AGENT?
