Adding to Your Faith
Good morning!
On January 6 of 2023, I brought this message out on my YouTube channel of ‘Adding to Your Faith‘.
In these modern times we live in, it is still crucial to do just that. We can never bypass The Word of God.
With that being said, absolutely we must know:
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
We must not have a Pharisee or Sadducee spirit about us. A religious spirit will never work as we approach people! Also, as we continue to walk out our journey of life down here.
This message I heard preached in the 70’s had a big impact on my life. It was about adding to your faith.
A brother, Tolbert Moore, preached it at a Bible conference I was attending at the time. It struck a note in my heart and stayed with me.
Here are the scriptures to go with it.
“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.” 2 Peter 1:1-9
Look at the progression below in these verses that Simon Peter gave about adding to our Faith. We are to add:
- virtue
- knowledge
- temperance
- patience
- godliness
- brotherly kindness
- charity
It is not enough to just have faith, but allow God to work these attributes out in us. How many of these attributes are we adding to our faith?
None of us as Christians have arrived yet, that’s for sure!
We must still ask for help from The LORD in the areas we need help from.
Also, we must remember to be patient with some. The LORD spoke to me, some are ‘lambs’.
Never forget to apply grace to the hearer. Some have not become mature yet in the faith.
“And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” 1 John 4:21
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7
God bless you in these last days, as we continue to walk in faith.
Still never forget as we walk in faith, to add to our faith, also!

Thank you my friend, Joyce..may all our faith grow and may we truly add virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and charity that we may our lives may be a picture of faithfulness and love. Beautiful word. Love you, sis. Sandi
Amen Sandi. The Lord knows where I lack and certainly all of us. Still with Gods help we will keep growing and learning and adding! We sure need Him every day, hour and minute. Love you sis.
Thank you, sis. Yes Mary, that is so spot on! We are to grow in His likeness, for sure. Too many just want to be seen and heard. May we in the body of Christ desire to be like Him. I pray the Lord richly bless you.
Hi Joyce; the words you post are so balanced and refreshing! Have you noticed alot of the Christian community has completely lost the whole purpose of us even being here as believers, followers of Christ Jesus. We are to grow into His likeness! That’s the main REAL GOAL of the Christian life! I really enjoy what you say here, straight from God’s word! Thank you. What a great encouragement.
