A Very Bad Heart Attitude and Ugly Spirit
“And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, “God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.”
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, “God be merciful to me a sinner.”
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”“ Luke 18:9-14.
HE STOOD BY HIMSELF thinking He was too good to even pray with the other man.
This man was so bigoted that he actually looked down his nose at other men, thinking himself Righteous!
Is it not sickening to us all that some exalt themselves, and judge others to be inferior to them? It is awful to demonstrate such a bad heart attitude of others.
Just come down from your lofty toadstool, you bigot.
The fact is he was a Pharisee. There are many Pharisees today who act like and do the same things the Pharisees did in Jesus’ day… they stand up and exalt themselves.
They are clearly told in this passage of Scripture, spoken by Jesus himself: He that exalts himself shall be abased!
Abased? Yes, brought down and humbled before the mighty Hand of God.
The LORD holds such a one in contempt, for he thinks of himself to be superior over other men, and even judges them. The LORD said he would be humbled.
That will not be too pleasant for the bigot who thinks he has somehow arrived.
Conclusion:
“He that humbleth himself shall be exalted….”
Then one must know: The way up is down.
Go down in humility and honestly admit that you are are a sinner too.
But, it is hard for some men to be humble.

I have posted this Word of warning to [those who think they are really something special].
LORD bring them down and shut their evil mouths and stop their judging of other men.
Help them to know that in Jesus only are any found to be of any value, and that it is because of Jesus’ Grace and Mercy.
