A Sweet Savor
Each evening after dinner I go for a walk around a tree-lined pond near our house.
The path is wide and easy and twists and undulated around the trees. There is good lighting so I can walk late.
As I walk my rounds, I pray out loud, for usually there is no one else hear. I pray whatever The LORD brings to mind and I have some wonderful conversations with Him and revelation from Him.
Last night, as I was about to start my second round, The LORD told me to keep quiet and shut my mouth. I did, and started to breathe through my nose.
A few seconds later I came to the highest part of the path and was instantly overwhelmed with the scent of the forests and countryside of my childhood and youth. I cried out to The LORD in amazement and wonder at the memories and emotions which instantly flooded over me.
As I walked on just a few steps more, I entered into a new aroma which grew stronger and stronger. It was an aroma I had never experienced before, so sweet, so strong, but so delicate and the words of scripture just came to me — “as a sweet savor, a sweet aroma unto The LORD.”
As I passed out of that sweet aroma and started my second round of the pond, The LORD said to me that it is better to “walk with one’s mouth closed,” so one can smell and experience and be part of one’s environment, and read the signs, as the men from Issachar read the times.
On the second round I experienced so many different scents that I have never experienced before, but when I got back to the start, the smells of my youth and of that sweet, sweet aroma, and been replaced with something else.
By the fourth round, I had begun to realize that The LORD was orchestrating this walk, as each round, it was totally different. Each few steps led to a new experience. So I asked The LORD what was happening.
The LORD then asked me what I had prayer for, the previous evening. Normally I could not have answered that question, as I pray what The LORD brings to mind and then move on, and so I usually have no remembrance of most of it.
But this time I clearly remembered the first two prayers from the very start of the previous evening’s walk. The first was to invite Abba Father to walk with me that night — as He had walked in The Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, and the second was like it, asking The LORD Jesus to walk with me that night and reveal Himself in person.
Then I realized, not only had The LORD heard my prayers, but He had turned up the next night as a surprise, to demonstrate that He is with me all the time, even thought I cannot see Him.
Further, He was showing me that He can even use my nose, to recognise His presence. That sweet, sweet aroma was seriously and Biblically Him. But the scents of my youth and the other joys and surprises He gave my last night, were from a loving Father who has a great sense of humor and enjoys life and wants to share that with us.
Thank You Abba Father for walking with me and giving me the chance to share this testimony of Your Goodness and Love.
Thank you Abba Father for showing me again, how creative you are.
Walking around the pond again tonight, The LORD reminded me that He can and does communicate with us in many, many ways.
He reminded me that while we talk about “hearing” God, few actually do, as The LORD often communicate in pictures, symbols, images, signs and circumstances, which are then interpreted into words, to communicate with others and be heard.
Last night’s wonderful experience was just another of The LORD’s many styles of communication with His Children which He delights to use.

Thank you, this Word really blessed me.
Beautiful Brother. Thanks for posting the above. Truly, Jesus is our Faithful Friend that sticks closer than a brother. One of my favorite verses is Jer. 33.3 “‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’”
Dear Doug,
Amen! He is the Faithful Friend indeed, and closer than a brother.
May The LORD bless and keep you and all of yours,
Angus
It is a blessing to read those words, for you see, there are so many instances that I have interacted with the Father that I haven’t attempted to articulate to anyone else. What a blessing that not only you were able to hear those instructions, but was Able to share them in written form. You and Jill both have been a blessing to me in ways that only the THE LORD could have orchestrated. I am not on fb anymore but I will be trying to harken unto the LORD’S voice for a different type of media. I will be in touch. God bless you so richly, although I know you are already!. Blessings!
Dear Angela,
To share The LORD with others is indeed a joy. For, as The Word says, they overcame by the word of their testimony…. and I believe too, so can we share ours.
Please be in touch Angela… you know where to find us.
Love, grace and blessings to you and all of yours in the mighty name of Jesus,
Angus
Thank you, our dear brother Angus, for sharing this WONDERFUL testimony with us.
It is truly “an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma…a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.” (Ephesians 5:2; Philippians 4:18 NKJV)
Dear Jacob,
Thanks indeed to you and all you do here.
I am just back from a walk around the pond again tonight, and again 4 times. It is nice to be able to walk and smile and talk, knowing that He is there with me. :)
Blessings to you all,
Angus
