A Priceless Exchange
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
A Priceless Exchange
Every day when I wake, before I get out of bed,
I say a little morning prayer
Thanking my Father;
For His Son’s priceless exchange
Who I was in this world before I knew Christ —
Whatever was to my profit
I now consider loss for the sake of Christ
Oh what a priceless exchange
Every day when I reflect upon the Cross,
I remember how Christ suffered:
The crown of thorns upon His Head;
The nails driven through His Hands and Feet
And I know everything in this world is a loss compared
To the greatness of knowing Jesus Christ my LORD
Oh what a priceless exchange
Oh His Greatness!
That I may gain Christ and be found in Him,
Not having a righteousness of my own
That comes from the law,
But that which is through faith in Christ
Oh such Love!
Oh what a priceless exchange!
Oh yes indeed, I left being ‘of this world’ behind
I took off the worldly glasses
Their worthlessness became evident
I gave up what once clouded my vision
And gained a Christ-like vision!
I became that man who sold all he had
In exchange for the Kingdom of Heaven!
Oh what a priceless exchange
Oh what a beautiful exchange
To die to this world and live in Christ
For what I lost, a wounded heart full of pain,
I gained in peace unshakable
And a Faithful Love who will always love me
Oh what a priceless exchange!
Every evening before I lie down to sleep,
I thank the Son of God
I thank Him for giving me a life
That surpasses all I left behind
I thank Him for giving me a life
In greater measure and greatness in Him
Oh what a priceless exchange!
Oh what a priceless exchange
To die to this world and live in Christ
Oh what a priceless exchange
To die to this world and live in Christ
For the light momentary afflictions in this life
Prepare us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison
Oh I thank my LORD Jesus Christ!
Oh what a priceless exchange
To die to this world and live in Christ!
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ — the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.” Philippians 3:7-9
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength.” Ephesians 1:18-19
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”” Matthew 13:44-46
“And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:17-18
“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,” 2 Corinthians 4:17
