A Prayer for Jerusalem
Psalm 122:6 “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”
We remember Your covenant with Abraham, O LORD, and stand on Your Word:
Genesis 12:2-3, “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonours you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Psalms 122:1-8 “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!” Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!”
Jerusalem — built as a city that is bound firmly together, to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!”
Be exalted, O LORD, far above the heavens and in all the earth!
We bless Your Holy Name and praise You for Your sovereignty over Jerusalem, Israel, Your beloved people and all nations.
We stand with Jerusalem and all of Israel, to pray for her peace, O LORD.
For salvation was poured out for her, the atoning of the LORD.
Let the truth of Your kingdom and Your purposes for Jerusalem, for Israel, for Your beloved people and for all nations be revealed, according to Your Word and Your will.
Arise, and come to Your resting place, O Holy God!
Take up Your throne in all the earth, we pray.
Shalom, Shalom, Jerusalem, peace be with you.
When the Messiah comes to take us home, may His peace be found in you.
Baruch ha ba B’shem Adonai!
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!
Amen!
