A Mother’s Hands
A Mother’s hands folded in prayer
Have the power to calm a child’s despair.
With a tender touch to a fevered brow
The fire is quenched; sickness must bow.
A Mother’s hands forever busy with work
No task too big, no task does she shirk.
She attends to the smallest of details
With determination she is sure to prevail.
A Mother’s hands carry God’s grace
To the penitent child with a tear-filled face.
With words of comfort and admonition
A soft caress accepts the heart felt contrition.
A Mother’s hands are molded in God’s likeness
As expressions of His love and uprightness.
They’re filled with His goodness and His power
Ready to minister no matter the hour.
A Mother’s hands are soft and warm
As she tends to her children through every storm.
They grasp the Sword of the Spirit with authority and might
Scattering the dark ones as they flee in fright.
Mother, your hands have held us through the good and the bad
And strengthened our hearts when we were sad.
So, we raise our voices to thank you today
As we remember your touch and your godly ways.
“Clothed in strength and dignity, with nothing to fear, she smiles when she thinks about the future. She conducts her conversations with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is ever her concern. She directs the activities of her household, and never does she indulge in laziness. Her children rise up and bless her. Her husband, too, joins in the praise, saying: “There are some — indeed many — women who do well in every way, but of all of them only you are truly excellent.” “ Proverbs 31:25-29, VOICE
