“Behold, a king will reign righteously And princes will rule justly. Each will be like a refuge from the wind And a shelter from the storm, Like streams of water in a dry country,
Like the shade of a huge rock in a parched land. Then the eyes of those who see will not be blinded, And the ears of those who hear will listen. The mind of the hasty will discern the truth, And the tongue of the stammerers will hasten to speak clearly,” Isaiah 32:1-4.

We all await justice in a land and a world where justice seemingly is seldom found. The fatherless, the widow, and the hurting, seem to look for justice in their lives, and yet, the world oftentimes, seems to ignore them. Those with wealth and influence continue to play their cards and stack the deck against those who are less fortunate. And yet, we have an eternal God who is ever watchful, keeping tabs with these things.

But truly, where is justice to be found? Is it just merely a lofty goal that some would write down as their ideals, in a court system which is run by governmental red tape and laws?

Is it just in word and not in deeds, that justice would be seen? Many have come and gone, who shouted from the mountaintops that justice would roll like a river.

Martin Luther King and others, so eloquently, and with passion, cried for it to be found, and yet even now, every day, justice is far from being seen. Does one have to die innocently, for justice to finally be seen?

Each and every day we hear the cries of many who lose their lives because of violence and misfortune. Every day we draw closer to the blood rising higher and higher.

Every day bigotry and racism, plague our planet, and spew their hatred in the streets. And yet many, even those who don’t know the king of justice, know that justice has become a word just tossed around like in a college philosophy class.

It is seemingly just an ideal, and not a pragmatic thing to be realized. But even small children know in their hearts when something is fair or not.

Can we truly expect our world, and its leaders, to exercise true justice? But the bible teaches us that,

“By me kings reign, and princes decree justice,” Proverbs 8:15.

What king or king truly did exercise justice during their reign? We are told that King Solomon ruled with justice and wisdom.

One time two women came to the king and there was a dispute about who the baby belonged to. True justice and wisdom was found in the end.

“One day two women came to King Solomon, and one of them said: Your Majesty, this woman and I live in the same house. Not long ago my baby was born at home, and three days later her baby was born. Nobody else was there with us.
One night while we were all asleep, she rolled over on her baby, and he died. Then while I was still asleep, she got up and took my son out of my bed. She put him in her bed, then she put her dead baby next to me. In the morning when I got up to feed my son, I saw that he was dead.
But when I looked at him in the light, I knew he wasn’t my son. “No!” the other woman shouted. “He was your son. My baby is alive!”<
“The dead baby is yours,” the first woman yelled. “Mine is alive!” They argued back and forth in front of Solomon, until finally he said, “Both of you say this live baby is yours. Someone bring me a sword.”
A sword was brought, and Solomon ordered, “Cut the baby in half! That way each of you can have part of him.”
“Please don’t kill my son,” the baby’s mother screamed. “Your Majesty, I love him very much, but give him to her. Just don’t kill him.”
The other woman shouted, “Go ahead and cut him in half. Then neither of us will have the baby.”
Solomon said, “Don’t kill the baby.” Then he pointed to the first woman, “She is his real mother. Give the baby to her,” 1 Kings 3:22-27.

We don’t need to decide if a child is cut in two or not, to determine who the real mother is. Those with a heart filled with generosity and love, know when a family needs food and clothing. There are many here among us, who give out of the abundance of their hearts to these things each and every day.

We don’t need laws that would teach us when to do these things, for those laws should already be in our hearts.

“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9.

God has said that He would write his law upon our hearts. The law written down thousands of years ago on stone tablets, is now written down upon fleshly hearts.

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people,” Hebrews 8:10

But not all hearts have this covenant now, and we look towards a king who would rule with justice and mercy. And when He finally comes, riding upon that great white steed, the former things will not be remembered, nor will they even come to mind.
