A Flashing Red Light!
A Flashing Red Light!
God’s Deterrent to Sin!
I had a thought this morning after watching some video news clips off Fox News.
One of these clips talked about how bad it was in Sweden since the Muslims have arrived in huge numbers. It was called the rape capitol of Europe.
As I read this terrible article, looking at pictures and scenes of disgusting behavior and hearing of the unchecked sin which is going on, I thought to myself, it is young men who lust and sin and want to live like dogs.
Well, it has been a known fact forever that there is a deterrent to such behavior. The deterrent is to rightly punish offenders and bring them to justice.
But that nation of Sweden seems to just adopt the casual route and largely overlook what is happening.
In any land or place, neighbor hood, school, house, where sin is approved and overlooked the cancer will grow until all who are infected die a terrible death. It has been seen by factual results that when any person lets himself go morally that he will end up hurt and hurting others.
If a person just refuses to admit that by doing certain things that have been known to horribly hurt people who do them, then what else is there to expect than horrible results.
In the above comments I have been basically referring to principals that are of this world when it comes to recognizing and dealing with things that are terrible and sin, toward ones self and others. But now I am switching to a heavenly approach to deterring sin and disgusting behavior.
What does God outline in His word that is a deterrent to sin?
The answer to this is God’s deterrent is hell fire.
In the Bible it talks about a place where wicked men who live in terrible sin go to be burned forever. It is the kind of place that all who go there never come back out.
In that place there is no reprieve and no rest from the terrible suffering. Jesus Christ spoke of this place more than He did about heaven, because He wanted to deeply warn men about the consequences of sin.
In His descriptions of hell, Jesus compared this place of torment to a trash dump outside Jerusalem called Gehenna. In that dump, the fires never went out, from burning the trash placed there.
One could always go there to see dead bodies of poor people and animals, laid there to rot. When one looked at them, it was known they had maggots eating their dead bodies.
Jesus said: in hell the worms die not and bodies never are consumed. In other words, the worms can eat forever but the flesh never ends. How horrible was Jesus’ description of hell. Men ever since, have dreaded the subject.
But Jesus said: it would be better to cut off your hand if it reached for sin then have two hands and go to this place called hell.
He said it would be better to cut off one foot if that foot caused a man to walk in sin, then to go to hell fire.
He said: it would be better to pluck out one eye than have two eyes and go into hell fire!
In another places, Jesus talked about hell fire and said there was a man who had been rich and enjoyed the sinful life who died and went to place called hell. In that place this man could look over to a side that was like beyond a gap or separation which was a place of wonderful bliss and comfort. A place of great reward for those who had lived righteous lives.
Jesus said the man cried out to one over cross the divide and said….. “Please give me just one drop of water from your finger to cool my tongue.” But the man over there who was comforted said, “No. I cannot give you anything. In your life before you lived horribly now you will suffer horribly.”
In discussing this bible subject of hell one is soon sickened by the fact that God has a deterrent for sin. That terrible warning is hell fire.
The Bible says that all wicked men who die without Jesus Christ and die in their sins will go to a temporary place of fire to live and wait until the end of this age and then they will be taken out of that place and judged for all their evil works and then ….. cast body and soul into a worse place called…. the lake of fire.
In the lake of fire one, will swim in fire and never die. He will be there forever.
Is it not most terrible to consider?
Is it even such as can be imagined that anyone would want to go to such a terrible lake of fire?
Warning…..
This is God’s deterrent to sin. If you sin and want to live like a dog in life, then expect the lake of fire.
I warn you of this because today so many in this life are not teaching about the terrible hell for sinners. I know myself and can remember one dream I had as a young man.
I dreamed I died and went to hell. I saw myself in flames crying out… and I awoke crying out, “Help me, help me!”
I went to see the preacher and try to find release from the dream, but even the preacher I went to could only give me a Bible and say, in this book you will find the answer.
I did search and I did get greatly concerned about hell fire. It was a terrible thought, but it brought me to a wonderful place… It brought me to Jesus Christ.
I know today, any Bible preacher preaching on hell fire is like a red flashing light on the road into hell.
Now take this definition of deterrent:
Deterrent: Noun
A thing that discourages or is intended to discourage someone from doing something.
Synonyms: disincentive · discouragement · damper · curb · check · [more]
I sincerely say to you who sin…. and want to live like dogs… there is a deterrent…
Turn now or burn.
“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of god with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt,” Mark 9:42-49.
