Then Jehovah said, “My Spirit must not forever be disgraced in man, wholly evil as he is. I will give him 120 years to mend his ways.” When the Lord God saw the extent of human wickedness, and that the trend and direction of men’s lives were only towards evil, He was sorry he had made them. IT BROKE HIS HEART. Genesis 6:1-6.

I have often wondered why God kept reducing the life span of human beings after the fall. In those days men lived up to almost a thousand years, but majority of their life was spent doing evil.

A man you hate, cannot break your heart, nor can someone you care less about. The only people or person or persons that can break your heart are the ones you truly CARE ABOUT.

The reduction in human life span was not punitive per say; God was trying to safe guard His heart. Yes He was trying to PROTECT His heart because it has been constantly BROKEN!

You know, if He allowed man to live like the days of old, His heart will be wounded for too long. Oh God, save my heart! Teach me to protect it like you did yours. Human beings are so fickle, they lick your hands when it drips with yogurt and run away when there is a maggot.
